I'm not sure if this belongs here or is better suited to one of the other forums but I'm interested in seeing some personal photography websites where people have their work for sale. (not stock photo sites) I'm interested in seeing how people have their sites laid out, if they are using a commercially available shopping carts, paypal, or some other means to facilitate the transactions, and perhaps most importantly their feelings on how their process is going.

So if you got one please post a link.

my site

I sell a few sports shots mostly, but when I built it that wasn't really a main objective. From the contacts of the sports I get some other type jobs too.

I have one setup that I did real quick so I could have a url on my business card when I was one of the accepted Photographers for a local Wildlife Art Show (Which explains the present wildlife inventory).

Moodville helped me with a preliminary layout and I had someone else design the PHP templates and Gallery Templates.

I want to have someone redesign it so it is more of a gallery than prints for sale. I may start looking for someone to redesign it after the first of the year. But it served the purpose for what I needed at the present time.

The cart is a PHP/Gallery add-on.

I decided to do all my printing through a local lab because I could not control the quality and etc of the printing online through DPCPrints. Don't get me wrong, I have ordered something like $200 in prints from DPCPrints and they were all very nice. But I figure if I'am going to sell a quality product I need to proof them in person and have the lab double check everything for me.

All the framing and matting I have done by a local professional.

This may sound a little odd, but I'm an I/T architect by day and want to focus on photography rather than site design in the evenings. I decided to use pbase for my site and then write my own style sheet to get a custom appearance. At this point I am linking back to dpcprints for my print sales. My url was purchased through buydomains.com and simply redirects the browser to the pbase account. There is a lot more I can do within this basic framework without having to write any java or php. I may still create my own site at some point, but this will work until I have a much stronger portfolio. www.davidnusbaum.com

With PHP you don't have to write a lot of code. It is mostly all open source and there are a number of templates available.

I did the install of PHP, PHP Admin, Gallery, Ecart and etc. But I do not know code that well so I had someone write the template for me. I do believe the templates are just small CSS and PHP files.

PBase is so unprofessional that you can not rely on them for a professional site. If there is a technical problem there is no one to contact. And Slug and Emily do not even bother to post info or answer problem questions in the forum. I just renewed my PBase membership and I really did not want to. I'm hoping DPC will update before I have to renew this time next year.

There are some things about PBase that I don't like, but it only took a couple of hours to figure out their HTML classes and create a style sheet the at least changed the apperance. I mostly work with java, but have used php for a couple of sites because it is so easy to find hosting. In fact, I started work on a site called www.dpessay.com that I was thinking would be similar to dpc, but focused on more traditional reportage style photo essays. Unfortunately, I haven't put that much work into my own site. Maybe somebody will post an interesting template here and I'll have to think this through again.

This is Mine

Here is mine, I designed it myself. I am looking to get into web design. I have done a few other sites also. If anyone could help me advance in web design, or if any one has any questions, or needs help feel free to ask.

Angles & Edges, Inc.

I intend to use some type of shopping cart in the near future. Lots of hits in the last few months, which has created some good photo opportunities. Definitely helps to get your url out there, everywhere. Check out my links page for a listing of sites that would be good for posting a link on.

I use 2BGal, (a php gallery), that I've modified to include PayPal's shopping cart.

A preloader on that would help. First I thought it was just dead :)

For those of you using a paypal solution how does that work? A person makes an order and you get an email with the details?

EDIT: Is the actual cart customizable as far as look?

Well, here is mine(ours). You see Theodor38 and I have joined forces to bring each of our styles to the masses. You can check out his pictures on this site, while mine can be found here.

I did the design and content of the site, Mehmet and I both have some of our photos on there, I am sure you will be able to tell the difference in our styles and pic out who did what. We will be turning our site over to a hosting agency, as I just don't have the time to continually update it...I like to think it is nice though! We will be adding a gallery for our photoart shortly, we will probably use 2checkout as the shopping cart, as that is ideal, though if you want a more controlled store, shopfactory is pretty decent. I would not recommend paypal, though some might.

PegasusPhotoGraphic.com

This is my site. It hooks into PayPal so that my customers can order their prints online. I then choose the best print method, have the orders shipped to me, I repackage with their receipt and my card and mail to them.

I have done weddings, family shoots, and event photography. For family shoots the person gets a password secured area of the site to view their images and order them.

I didn't design or code my site, our very own moodville did it for me. I was a pesky client with a lot of changes throughout the building of the site, but I think she did a wonderful job. I get a lot of complements on the design and layout of the site, and ease of use.

Below is the link to my site. It is for my art and photography and currently all transactions have to go through me until I get an automated method setup. I am currently overhauling it so it will function a little differently eventually as well as contain more of my newest photography. Very few people find it through searches and that will need to be fixed. Once you have a site up then there is always a lot of maintanence and improvements to do.

Well... I'm still getting my web site set up. And the "real" photography that is for sale is "behind the scenes" (i.e. found in private galleries for the bride and groom). But I think what I've posted publicly so far will give a little idea as to what I'm up to.

hey, although im not much of a photographer nor a website designer, i decided this is a good time to get some valuable feedback.
my website is maxj.net
...also, by request of some friends that my current website has too much blue in it, im working on this layout //maxj.net. any preference to the two?

EDIT: the old layout is gone...fully converted to the new one
