Post your outtakes from the Pavements & Roadways challenge here.

Entry

It did ok, about as expected.

I really wanted the wideangle shot to work, but it just didn't. I think it was too busy and didn't lead the eye well. The subject of the tarmac got lost in all the clutter.

The position of the plane in your entry is better than the outtake. And, as you mentioned, the outtake is quite busy. "Roadways" also probably had more impact than "Pavement" in this challenge (I think).

Big difference in how participants and non-participants scored. Very unfortunate.
You definitely picked the good one; you were #4 by my vote; I liked the geometry and proportions of elements on the parking lot enhanced by the B&W treatment.

I intentionally worked on making those markings stand out. Good to know it had the intended effect on the scene.

I've seen plenty of entries where the participants average was higher on my entry. I'm not convinced that statistic really means much.

I like how the outtake captures a broader expanse of the pavement and shows off the divisions and variations of paving as well as the markings; color adds interest; for the challenge, cropping to a bit above the tree line to reduce the amount of sky showing could increase the emphasis on pavement. Although "busy" in one sense, to me the outtake has a welcome flavor of "street" photography - capturing an everyday (for some) work environment with lots of interesting details.
