Hmmm...looks like a piece of pie, maybe apple. What I think it is, is a piece of Pizza Huts dessert pizza. I love that stuff. If it were in color then I wouldn't have to guess, so maybe good it is in b/w. I would have liked all four tips of the fork to show.

I didn't find it appealing. It's pretty washed out on my laptop screen, although maybe it will look different on my pc. Being in b & w the food is unidentifiable so I don't really connect to it. As a chef I was careful to "compose" or "present" food with contrasts of color and texture, and shape. So seeing food in b & w makes it distasteful and unappetizing. To further the impersonal aspect of it, the fork isn't where I would place it on my plate as a right-handed person. That makes it a little unsettling for me. lol....ocd maybe...lol Actually I can't really find anything I like about this picture.

And stab I will :0)

1) To many hotspots (from flash or lighting?) they need to be toned down.

2) Poor layout.. sorry, it's to early in the mornin to say more..

3) either crop all the ends of the fork or show them all. It effects the visual flow... you can do it for effect but I dont think thats what you are doing here...

4) it looks dirty... actually a clean plate looks better for photographic purposes... even when the food is half eatin.

Lastly, what are you trying to achieve?? It doesn't send any kind of message and it doesn't convey anything I would consider for advertising..

It is already eaten up! I would like to see a slice for me! Otherwise, it looks like something old and just like the leftovers from someone.

I don't know what it is about it....but I like it. I think it's the way that the morsel of pie? looks just as deliciously sweet and sticky, even though it's in b&w. I love the contrasts and the layout and I like that not all of the fork is showing...but then, this is coming from an amateur. :) I just like it.

It didn't appeal to me. It seems the subject might do better in colour, but it is hard to be sure.

I really like it! It brings back comforting feelings of enjoyable dinner parties. It's very indulgent. When you get to that stage, of just a single morself of food left on your plate, you usually feel sated, and that's what it represents to me. I think the high contrast works well, it's kinda the way things look when you've had a few glasses of wine, or even just from all the dopamine flooding your brain after a really good meal - ie. it gives a sense of heightened awareness to me.

heh I like it...not sure why but it works. It's like this new trendy photos we're seeing.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but....

I find you get what you ask for. If you put $1.00 on this at a yard sale someone is gonna buy it. If you put $10,000.000 on it in Beverly Hills on consignment is some swank shop you can bet it will sell.

i dig this picture. i can't come even close to being as eloquent as lisae about it, so i will just say , uh--what she said! but then i generally like interestingly artsy contrasty shots.

John,
My first impression was that the food has bite marks in it as though it had been eaten with the fingers. That made me wonder what the fork was for. The end result is not very impressive for me. I guess every one has to experiment.

In the spirit of lisae's 'feeling' reaction, I must add my two cents. When I look at this photo, I have two 'feelings.' 1. Shame....D'oh, I burned the crust again and they can't stand another bite. 2. Dread...Criminees! I guess I'll be scrubbing a pile of sticky dishes before I go to bed.

I guess that just goes to show that it's all in the eye of the beholder. :P

So I assume that the overall impression is that I did take this photo? :)

It didn't occur to me one way or the other when I looked at the picture. Regardless of the photographer, the photograph still doesn't appeal to me.

I'm just waiting for you to give and say who did and watch everyone retract their statements :)

My critique on this photo is:

I love the simplicity of it. I also like the sharp contrast and the grain. In my mind, the fork being cut off has no effect on this photo at all. It's irrelevant to the image. It's a detail that makes no difference at all.

Whether or not the image is unappealing to the viewer is simply subjective.

I don't think I will reveal the source of this photo. I gave the last one away by linking it from it's host site so I didn't do that on this one. I moved it to my own site before I linked it.

I will post another one later :)
