My Canon 20D arrived today after a painful waiting period since friday, so I'm happy as Larry today (can't shake off that grin). Bought the camera body with the 18-55mm kit lens, the very nice 70-200mm f/4 L USM, and the 50mm f/1.8 II along with a Tamrac Expedition 7 bag (It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be...) and some UV filters. Maybe I'll get active in the challenges again now that I'm not frustrated with not having a DSLR.

Mine hasn't arrived just waiting pacient. But hope next week its here. Go out and start taking pictures!! nice lenses there. Good luck that i don't think you'll need it since now you'll start winning ribbons! ;)

Ok, I am going to brag about my 20D here... I got it before the official arrival date! I was terribly excited until I realized that there was an issue with some debris inside the viewfinder glass. So I had to send it back and wait (impatiently!) along with everyone else for my new one to arrive, though I still had the new one by the first week of October.
I am sure that Nikon users don't feel this way about their cameras ;) |

wow... that sucks... but at least you got a replacement. I ordered mine last week, and it came in only 3 days, so I was excited, but at the same time, had to make sure everything was good to go. Luckily, I didn't have the same problem you did.

| I'm glad mine does not have any problems (yet) It probably takes a lot of time and effort to get a replacement to Iceland.... |

| Gotta tell ya....got my Nikon D100 about a year ago....way too cool as far as I am concerned....but not to poo poo on your Canon's...they are exquisite cameras and you all should be really happy with them. Good luck! |

The Nikon D70 and D100 are nice as well, but the 20D is the King of it's price range (up to 1.500$, probably higher...)!....
Now it's just up to the damn weather, windy overcast-rainy-hell has been dominating the icelandic skies for a while now.... |

Til hamingju með nýju vélina, þú kemur ekki til með að sjá eftir þessu (nema kannski peningunum) enda er þetta allt allt allt annað en Canon Gx vélarnar þótt þær séu góðar.
Passaðu þig bara að gefast ekki upp strax þótt að myndirnar verða ekki geggjaðar alveg strax enda þarf aðeins að læra á gripinn en um leið og það kemur þá sérðu alveg muninn. Passaðu þig bara að þú ert með miklu minna DOF núna en með litlu vélinni svo að ef þér finnst vélin ekki vera fókusera rétt, þá er það líklega þú sem ert að klikka, ekki vélin. |

Ég fékk mína 20D rétt fyrir helgi og þetta er mögnuð vél. Ég er reyndar smá óöruggur um það hvort hún sé að fókusa nægilega vel en það er líklegast bara að ég er ekki að nota hana alveg rétt.

Þett er vél sem maður þarf að láta sig dreyma um á næstunni.
Næst á dagsrká hjá mér er Canon 17-40 L f/4 linsa og hugsanlega Tamron 28-75 f/2,8 linsa. Alveg kominn tími á að skipta út EF-S linsunni sem fylgdi með Rebelnum. Góð linsa til að byrja með en langt frá því að vera nógu skörp þegar lengra er komið.
Ps. OFS myndin mín sem þú kommentaðir á var hins vegar tekin með þessari linsu ! :-) |

| Bæði og, hef tekið nokkrar niðri í BECO og nokkrar í gegnum B&H, samt hef ég aldrei pantað linsur í gegnum netið vegna þess að ég hreinlega treysti ekki flutningsaðilum fyrir linsum. Kem samt til NY reglulega (2-3 á ári) og versla mér alltaf eitthvað, panta bara minniskort og þessháttar á netinu. |

Congrats..
I've just joined the list of folks on the site waiting, waiting, waiting for a 20D to arrive. :-).
Should be next week sometime, and then I'll have a permanent grin for a week or two.
I sold my film SLR gear about a year ago now, and I really miss having a camera that actually takes photos when you push the button, not some random time afterwards, a real manual focus, and a shallow DOF... Ohh the simple pleasures in life. :-).
