Looking at the pricing plan, I would like to go with the 9.99 a month one.

I looked and I cannot see that it has Bridge in the bundle, just Lightroom?

Or does it automatically come with Bridge. I am so far down the rabbit hole of tech problems, I thought I would ask here.

I did look online, and some people said it came with, and others said it did not. So I am confused.

I have that and it does include Bridge. It even keeps it updated for new camera releases and such.

Lightroom actually does most things better than bridge. I was hesitant to switch from bridge, but it does seem kind of redundant with bridge, imo

I rarely use Bridge anymore - I use Lightroom Classic for my initial review and delete. Seems to work well for that.

Bridge is automatically a part of any Photoshop purchase or plan. PS alone can't process a RAW file.

^^ What Ribert said.
I also concur with Wendy, Lr Classic (the desktop, non-cloud version) is more capable. It also comes as part of the ten-buck plan. That is the plan that I have.

That is awesome news. I am sure it is not just me, that has been stung a few times with Buy This, and then to find out you need to buy all sorts of other things at additional prices. A ton of people have been talking about how I am old news still using Bridge versus Lightroom, so as it is attached as well, I will look into LR, I did try a billion years ago and could not get the hang of it, so good time to try again.

Thank you everyone! xox

I love your typo; I suddenly had a French accent and rolled my R's when I saw Ribert!! lol

LOL at my typo, did not notice it until you pointed it out.
Lightroom, when it first came out, was such a different interface that folks (myself included) had a bit of a time adjusting to it. These days, it doesn't seem foreign, and I think a lot of the competition has similar interfaces.
The key with setting up Lightroom Classic is deciding how you want your library set up. I'm a proponent of buying a good book on Lr and reading the chapter(s) related to set-up before actually installing it.

ETA: Just looked at the current offerings, the two top choices look to be the ones from Scott Kelby & from Martin Evening. I have books by both, and I think they are both good authors. Martin's approach is a little less formal, as I recall.

I get that completely. I avoided LR for many years because I found it irritating and not intuitive.

It IS irritating. It ISN'T intuitive in the slightest. But it is very powerful and worth getting to know.

The best thing to do is, if you're getting the package, start using LR classic (not the cloud version) and don't bother trying to fight with it. Anytime you can't find something immediately, come on here and ask! I kept making the mistake of thinking I could just figure it out. But there are so many things that just aren't logical. And there are so many hidden things. (seriously? Hold down the shift key and double click on the slider to optimize it in the develop module? At least in photoshop's raw editor, the labels change to know you've got different options!)

Anyway. It's worth learning (by saving time and just asking instead of suffereing. :)

And I will now think of them as Ribbert and Kirbet. :)

(obviously should be Ribbert, not Ribert, though. )

Good point, Wendy. Ribbert and Kirbet it should be!

Ohhhhhhhhhh myyyy, I got the 9.99 one.

That is slightly different than CS5

Then made the mistake of upgrading my NIK Collection and my Topaz Labs.

I shouldn't have done that; it was too much for my little brain to handle. Too much tech in the last 72 hours! But on a side note, fixed the new computer, so that is finally doing well, it was bad cords and bad mouse that they sold me =(

But the screen is WOW now I am used to it. My little 21 inch is soooooooooo small now.

Warning: get ready for disappointment...

My photos are the most incredible things, and then I have to resize them to 1200 pixels. And then they look so tiny and insignificant. Large beautiful monitors are wonderful. Everyone should have them so we don't have to resize!

Remember when we were all peering at our photos on 1024 x 768 screens? With 8-bit color depth?

Ahhh, the bad old days!

okay, this is crazy, I have been doing this for an hour... How do I make NIK Collection go into the box like this. It has been at least 10 years since I did it , I probably had no idea how to do it then either
04/22/2022 06:01:17 PM · #18
Funny how I always wanted to get rid of that box. I just use it from filters. I checked and I think this can help you.

04/22/2022 06:59:32 PM · #19
are you talking about within photoshop? If so, go to the File menu and select automate->nik selection tools

Thanks guys, adore the photos you plugged in so it was simple for the dunce of the group to follow and do. It is all so bright, shiney and so different.

It's like I had the other computer PS all set up, used it nearly daily for 11 years, so to suddenly not have much of anything that is familiar and not set up in the old way that it is almost shock and a Oh I will never get or understand this.

I think, I am pretty sure I have fallen into the age old trap of not wanting anything to change as it works, and now I have shocked myself with everything being brand new, there was no easing into it at all.

I will learn to like it all. =? lol

You guys have been all great with your help, I am sure it is like walking a toddler with me =P

Yup, those technology transitions can be like jumping head-first into icy water!

Okay, please dont kill me, I fell like this is all basic stuff I should know and I am not having any luck.

I would like (if possible) to reinstall Topaz Vivacity that I have on my old computer, it contained clarity, topaz clean ycbcr, topaz clean, enlarge, sharpen and 2 other things I cant see as I had my flash on.

Is that even possible to put in such an old topaz, I still have the keys for it, and I have the whole thing on an external drive?

Possibly. Give it a try. The newer operating sy stem may not like it, and the newer versions of PS may not accept it, but you will find out soon enough when you try :-)

I think the bigger issue is they probably won't work with the current versions of photoshop and lightroom...?

That being said, the new topaz sharpen AI is so much better than clarity and the old sharpen. It's worth the $.

And I know exactly what you mean. Afer knowing so much for so long, it's hard to feel like you're starting from scratch. I get quite testy when they move and change things on me. That's why I'm saying -- ask here! Until you get your sea legs it's easy to feel quite lost. No need to suffer. That's what we're here for. (I say that easily, because everything I know I asked here first. :)
