hey guys -- my answer is not there:

i'll pay, do what you want with the money, and I am hoplessly addicted so it doesn't matter if we have prizes or not, but I would really, really like to have a Kermi shirt, if they were available for purchase, cause I know I could never win one.

(hmmm, maybe i can see why it's not one of the choices)

I just want to give you guys money. I don't care what you do with it.

Do you remember the DPchallenge hats? It's getting closer to winter, and they might be a good fun draiser.

Depending on how much, how often, and what benefits. I'm a student. Let me say this again: I'm a poor, poor, n00bie student.
If its $1/3 month, sure thing... no prizes needed. more then $3 will probably make me say "its nice, but not an expense I can afford".

Prizes? They're a good addition... How about something like a cleaning cloth/case for cards/etc , something cheap to start, and wait if it takes off? I mean, if I know that the top 3 get _something_ for paying, chances are I'd be able to raise my "cheapness" level to $5-7/3 months.

Good luck!

If I were to win(yeah right) I cant imagine a better prize than a certificate or a real ribbon to go on a print saying that my photos dont all suck. Wait I can too but something like that would still be cool.

That'd be pretty cool, I'd spring for a t-shirt.

*eyes lights up* a kermi tee? or even an iron on transparency would be neat.

What a fantastic idea... This sort of prize would make the challenge even more exiting and at a low cost. Pehaps a big prize once a year?

I was lucky enough to win a second place with my photo "Between Rides" and that was prize enough for me. I strive for the time when I might get that close to getting the "Blue Electronic Ribbon" again. WOW! what an upper it is. Autool

First line of the poll: "Free DPChallenge isn't going anywhere"

You'll always have at least what you have already FREE. Paid membership would just be for extra features.

Update. I've changed the wording of the poll just slightly, in case there was any confusion. It shouldn't affect your vote at all, but if it does, drop me an e-mail and I'll remove your old vote.

New wording: "DPChallenge as you know it will always be free ... But paid membership..."

""DPChallenge as you know it will always be free ... But paid membership on the site will include a members-only challenge as well as added sections and features. Which would you prefer with respect to the possibility of prizes for the members' challenges?""

I have some problems with the wording of these polls. The moment you introduce major changes free DPChallenge as "you know it" will be impacted somehow and will no longer be "as we know it". It might be better or become less important.
I really don't mind clicking in a box 1x a week to respond to some poll but it would be jolly helpful if you guys could be more specific so that the replies will be more meaningful and give you something worth analyzing.
If you have regular free challenges on a weekly basis and only one member challenge per month, sure the free challenges will not be impacted. Business as usual. If the distinguishes feature of the members only challenge will be some prize (for which I would never be eligible anyway) but you have to pay a membership fee in order to enter, then I don't see much enticement for the membership. So, what else would you be offering for the membership and roughly how much would you want to charge for fees?

If on the other hand, the membership challenges would be designed to become THE hot potato of this site then the free challenges will suffer. What I'm saying is that it is hard to offer something new that is very enticing without negatively affecting something that is already in existence and very popular.

I replied that I would be willing to become a member but I don't like prizes. But that really depends on how much the membership will be and what services would be offered. I am suspecting that you may be getting a lot of replies that are really meant to be construed as "yes/no/maybe, it depends, tell me more". Then again, if DPchallenge as I know it, will always be free, then I have absolutely no incentive to become a member (other than being nice to D&L) because I'm happy with the way the site is right now.

Sorry :)

The biggest reward of taking photographs is the critiques of your audience in this case your peers. There is nothing more fulfilling than to read a complement or constructive criticism or even negative feedback. I think prizes should take the form of some kind of printed recognition by the members of the site.

We don't want to take a thing away from you. We're trying to structure the future of the site based on your responses. If you feel the poll isn't descriptive enough, you're in the right place to tell us how you feel. All I can offer with respect to whether membership will be for you is I guess to wait and see if you're unsure. No worries :)

In regards on the new poll on this website, if you have prizes for the contests each week you'll have unfair voting, more than you got already. Now it is just egos, give them a prize and well there will be more ones for a picture that don't deserve it. If you were having problems financially I would suggest commercial means first? You have enough hits, that more than likely you could get good sponsors. I hope that you would not have those popped up ads for I don't ever look at them. I just find pop up ads annoying. I am just suggesting for you are the ones that decide your capital venture. I enjoy your website but if I had to pay, probably not. I hope the best for you in whatever you decide and good luck?

I agree that member challenges might get unfair voting ... so if you were to have those I'd suggest getting some judges ... but that would probably cost even more money.
How about we leave the challenges with no prizes but send the top 3 a "winner certificate". I'd like to add something like that to my resume. ;-)
