I'm really excited to get out again! Perhaps some of us could meet in southern Utah for a trek? Even folks from California could get there within 6-8 hours. I'm thinking of the week between Christmas and New Years . . . Let's go! Who's game?

You just got back from Arches! Where did you have in mind this time? Zion? Bryce Canyon? Dead Horse Pt.? Would you be out shooting for the entire week David?

Actually I got back from Arches last December at the time I'm proposing to go again. I'm not sure where or how long. I suppose that depends on when/who can come!

Some options:

Death Valley National Park. This isn't southern Utah, but for you Californians, it's a shorter drive, and the place is better in winter, believe me!

Bryce Canyon: a bit chilly! But to see snow and frost gracing the ethereal hoo-doos is worth wearing mittens for.

Escalante Canyons: near Escalante, Utah. About as remote a town as you'll find. Just north of Lake Powell. Lovely canyons, lots of isolation, and while cool, it shouldn't be too freezing.

Canyonlands National Park: I'm actually working on a bunch of images from here, but I'd like to go back and be able to choose the times of day I see certain things, and also get off the road and out of the visitor areas.

Las Vegas! heck with nature; Bright lights! Good food! Cheap hotels!

There are lots of places!

David, don't miss The Valley of Fire
I don't know if you've ever been there. They have the most amazing ancient petroglyphs in a series of short hikes. A great side tour and leg stretch on the way to Vegas.
