Is it permissible to use the perspective warp tool under the standard editing guidelines?

The quick answer is *any* tool is legal (well, except the "add text" tool, LOL). It's the result that matters. If what you've achieved with the tools falls within the "You May" part of the rules, and does not violate any of the "You May Not" then you are OK.

I agree. But, I'm not Site Council.

The rules say that you may... "use cloning or similar tools to fill in gaps around the perimeters of panoramic or perspective-corrected photos with appropriate bits to continue the interrupted image."

So, they allow for adding space after you've perspectively-corrected your photo. Right?

One of the things I bear in mind when editing with any tool is if the element I am creating or deleting constitutes a main feature. If so, then not legal.

I recall a few years ago, one member said he would show his photo to his child to describe. If the child's description included the item he wanted to remove or change, then it was too major an element to mess with.

Say, is Major Element related to Colonel Crop?

No, but he's a distant cousin of General Failure

Major Element passed away a few years ago and was given a full military funeral. He was a pompous, argumentative, even capricious old blowhard who spent way too much time drinking with General Confusion.

As for distortion/warp, no tool is forbidden per se. It's up to the voters to let you know with their numbers whether they think you've gone too far with it.
