Regardless of who wins tonight, I'm proud to be an American.

I'm watching our citizens come out in record numbers, standing in snow, rain and heat to cast their votes. This is what democracy is all about.

you want my "touchy, feely, treehugging" thoughts on this? Go democracy, but even better, go democracy where the populace is well informed and free to choose without undue influence. That said, let's have a P A R T Y once this election closes!

Oh, and now for the touchy, feely, tree-hugging bit: No matter who is declared the President, everyone should work toward peace and harmony and saving this planet and its inhabitants from ourselves.

I am partying and drinking lots of beer. I made my choice and voted, but wasn't thrilled by either selection. So more BEER! Dull the pain either eay. (C:
Might be why I am watching THe Daily Show for my election results. (C:

I have certainly been following it very close. It will still be close, even if Bush ran off with a fast lead.

But yeah, certainly a huge voter turn out. Very impassioned voters on both sides.

As an Australian with the Westminster system and the compulsory vote I am scared. I am watching "America Decides" and my family's future hinges on this vote. Either Bush or Kerry will lead the world elected by people who don't have to vote and are lured by domestic goodies to vote. Looking from the outside in the world is doomed whether Bush or Kerry wins. After the events of 9/11 and the self serving wars that followed I am shocked that Bush is leading the race. Get onto those grassy knolls and change things for the better!

If you're joking, that's not the slightest bit funny. Advocating the assassination of the President is a felony.

I'm not sure anyone remembers Kent State. Yet another sad commentary for the usa. If you don't know, that's where we shot and killed seven kids who weren't much of a threat to the armed national guard. They shot from "the grassy knoll", probably in the belief they were ridding the world of some scummy, crummy traitors anyway.

What's really buggin me are all the erratic numbers everywhere. //www.cnn.com has one set of numbers, //www.wsvn.com has another and it seems like no 2 sites are on the same page.

Regardless of how tasteless or criminal your statement is (I doubt it's a felony for a non-US citizen to threaten the President from outside the country, but I could be wrong), do you really think 'President Cheney' sounds any better? That's how it works here, you know.

Perhaps you're suggesting that someone should keep shooting until everyone you don't like has been removed from power? Nah... that can't be it... that would make you a hypocrite.

I was actually talking against assassination... I would like to see americans on grassy knolls banding together to change the system. My reference to the grassy knoll was to remind people that they actually don't have control over the future of their nation but corporations, oil companies and government agencies do. No system is perfect but the current one is far from it.

Sorry if I offended people. I don't condone the murder of anyone or anything.

What happens if you don't want to vote in Australia?

You get a fine. But not many people don't want to vote.

But in Australia, do the people's actual vote count? Because in the US, the people have no power to choose a President...only the electoral college do.

The people's vote is couted and elects their local member. The party with the most members forms the government and the prime minister is the leader of the governing party. The other party forms the opposition. Our head of state is the governor general who represents the Queen.

Well I personally am pretty please with at least one set of results from last night. My Uncle John McKenna got re-elected to the Carson City, Nevada school board last night.

Great job Uncle John!

I'm terrified by the result for the rest of the world.

You Americans had the chance to make the world a safer place and rid the world of a madman with weapons of mass distruction.

Looks like you havent
