Sadly, the former Blue Ribbon winner in the "Image Grain VIII" challenge has been DQ'd for being a photo-montage of two different images. It was an interesting situation, because the photographer made one image of the setup with all the elements in it, then removed one element when taking a second exposure specifically to clean up the light edges. Unfortunately, this qualifies as a photo-merge of two different images, and it's not legal in Standard Editing.

Congrats to our new ribboner and HM.

Well that was a surprise (although I had been 'warned' it might happen by SC).

I've put the resized originals in my photographer comments if you care to view them along with a comment.

I'd just like to apologize to everybody who now gets bumped up 1 place almost 2 days late, especially the new ribbon winner chazoe, new front page image from jomari and new HM for Cuttooth.

Edited to add the image to save you some clicks...

for me in this case, if Andi would have kept the element that was removed as is and would have taken the second shot and merged the two then there was no issue, right? meaning removing an element even though the camera position and all remain same caused this DQ.

Correct. You can't change the composition of the shot between exposures.

No need to apologize Ecce. I'm torn, I am excited to win my second ever ribbon (human nature I suppose) but not excited about winning it on a DQ brought on by an honest mistake. I suppose it would feel different if it was a blatant cheating issue but this clearly is not.

Very sorry to hear this - I just loved that image and it was my only 10!

Which is where I fell down, if the light source is the composition then fine, the 'chick' never moved and is in both images, just not lit up so you can't see it. If this is against the standard editing rules then I stand by them, its just that currently I'm playing with multiple exposures using light/dark/shadows and that doesn't fit into the ruleset.

Yes, I'm upset but I think we all have bigger issues to contend with right now.
