I have too much equipment considering how little shooting I have been doing. It's literally come down to about 1 or 3 portrait shoots a year with a few assignment jobs here or there. But I still need to organize my stuff while keeping it accessible.
3 kids and a wife (with cancer) that insists things are more tidy than I am.
Any tips?

I solved my equipment storage with a small chest of drawers that also holds a TV & related stuff on top. But I probably have 1/10th the equipment you have. My problem is with my charging station, which right now is totally out of control.

BTW, surely you have a new iphone since the 5S? :D

I keep mine on the piano, mainly because it's a good in-between all doorways spot...and no one really uses the piano that often. I only keep the body and no more than 3 lenses, as I mostly use primes. Everything else camera related is in a closet, and the lighting stuff is in the garage. My tripod is always leaning in a corner by a door until someone gets sick of looking at it then it gets moved to another corner that I can never find when I decide I actually want to use a tripod.

Also, I'll be keeping you and your fam in my thoughts, so sorry to hear of Julie's diagnosis. My heart hurts for you guys. (((hugs)))

Ha!
Yes I suppose I could update my profile to the iPhone Xr -- Maybe I was trying to be cute
Anyway, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with stroage issues ;)
thx

I can relate! Contrary to popular belief EVERYONE puts tripod in a corner ;P

Thank you for you (((hugs))), Julie is doing great (4 or 6 treatments in the books as of yesterday). BUt since I have a photo shoot this weekend, I'm scattered all over and I know she is frustrated. SOunds like we have a similar storage strategy (all over the place =) ... I like to have the stuff out in the open - I'm like a dumb animal; if it's in a closet or something I think it's gone forever ;)

I bought a bigger house.
Now I have a man cave to store my bikes, trainers, board games and all my photography equipment with ample room to spare.

This is similar to the route I took. We had a cabinet that was orphaned in a remodel, and I moved to a bedroom, plopped the TV on top of it, and filled it with my photo junk.
For the stuff that I want ready to go, I do keep my camera backpack packed and ready with my common equipment.

This is how I have kept all, I convert one of my coat closet to storage by adding shelves

You did what I did with my car, one day my Honda civic got a flat tire and next day I went and bought Mercedes :)

Ive just been keeping my stuff in 3 separate camera bags. One bag with the stuff I mostly take with me (2 lenses, body, most used filters, intervalometer, extra card) the other 2 bags with the other lenses and spare body, and tripods are stored in my bedroom closet. I'm sure you have a lot more gear to store than I do though so would be harder for you.

I think this may be the answer. If I put shelves like this in the closet where my wife is envisioning my stuff, it may work!
The visual is what I needed I think! =))

ETA: Now we just need to find a place for all the winter coats. Yup maybe just move LOL
