I assume that the cut-over time for photos taken within the challenge dates is mid-night?- What is the time zone? - I took a shot on the 1st day of the challenge and it is being rejected as outside of the challenge window.. :(

There is a glitch in the system which disallows entries taken near the opening and closing dates. All deadlines are based on server time (currently Eastern Daylight Time). If your photo is legal, just put down the next day (or whatever) on the entry page and it should go through; validation is based only on the EXIF data in the original, regardless of the "date taken" field on the entry page.

Current server time is listed at the bottom of every page when it is loaded.

Midnight Server time, which is Eastern time in the US. In UK the rollover happens at 5.00 am. Apart from the gap when the daylight saving starts and ends. In UK summertime ends at the end of October and in the US it's a week later, so for that week, the rollover time is different. Same in the Spring. US goes earlier than Europe, so there's a gap there too.
