Hello. I am definitely a beginner, but very interested in DSLR Photography. I got out of photography when my sister passed away in 2012, but recently started back to get back into DSLR Photography. I purchased a Canon 80D and I am looking for recommendations for the best lens for my camera and maybe a brief reason why. I’m interested in wildlife, macro, and landscape photography. Maybe later on portraits. If you can give me suggestions, I would truly appreciate it. When I purchased my camera it was a kit purchase, so it came with a 18-135mm. I do have some lens, but curious if there are any other lens that would be a good choice and why. Like I said, I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you in advance.

Hi! And welcome!

When I was shooting canon, my main go to lenses were:

10-22 (which only works on the crop sensor cameras. Great, relatively inexpensive wide angle with wonderful quality)
28-105 An L series lens. Great quality, all 'round range
100-400L Expensive but soooooo much fun. Wonderful for wildlife.
100mm macro. Mine was the unstabilized version. Incredible lens. The sharpest lens in my kit. I used it for portraits (though I'd have to get back a ways!) and for macros. Great, versatile lens. If I had to get rid of all my lenses, that would be the one I'd keep, just because the quality is so incredible.

Agreed.

100-400L the original one might be way cheaper now second hand since the new ones came out.

That list pretty much covers it. If budget won't extend to the 100-400L you could look at the Sigma 70-300 DG, but if wildlife becomes a passion, you will be itching to upgrade.

I really like the Canon EF 24-70/4L IS USM on my Canon 70D
I also loved the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM

The other lenses listed are all fantastic too!

I happen to have a 100-400L IS that I'd be happy to see find a new loving home.

I have the 18-135 myself. Nice lens and covers a good range for almost everything. You'd probably want something longer for the wildlife, however. Cory's 100-400L sounds like a great choice for the wildlife if you can afford an L lens.

I also have a Tamron 10-24mm wideangle and a Tamron 70-300 which will both be up for sale soon, as I am giving my 50D to my granddaughter.

Oh, I didn't even realize it was an old post. Well, it got me to finally post those lenses for sale.
