Ok -- not the best subject line.

So I'm working as the photographer for a local aquarium. Right now the photos that I'm taking are being used more for marketing in the future. But it seems like we should also be using them on social media for advertising.

Have you been a photographer for a company?

1. How are you using the photos?
2. What's the best way of getting the photos out? Facebook? instagram? Just a flikr link? I'm don't really do social media much, so I don't have a handle on what people are using and what we should be doing. So any and all suggestions would be wonderful!
3. I'm taking photos of events, but again, the photos are used more in the future for marketing purposes. Should we be putting these photos out somewhere?

What other things should I be considering? There's some great stories that I'm stumbling across. How do we tell them?

Thanks!!

Sounds a little fishy... I didn't know squirrels could swim??

Sorry, I have no advice of any value on social media, as I am an old fart.

You haven't heard of the swimming squirrels???!

Ok -- I went to find a photo of a squirrel wearing scuba equipment -- because I'm not Art and can't create it myself.

Seriously!?! I couldn't find one!

Art!!! help!!

i do feel that having a facebook page .. as a business .. is a very good way to get more business ..
they also say that instagram is a great marketing tool ..
i personally havent used instagram for any promotion but millions of ppl do ..
i wish i could give you more advice .. but just from what i've heard ... facebook and instagram are both very good tools for getting more exposure ..
if you are taking photos of events i'm sure that a lot of the ppl attending would have facebook profiles and/or pages ..
maybe a bit of networking at the events and following other ppl's pages could work .. i dont know .
just putting my two cents worth in while cleaning my teeth before crashing out .. 12.17am oz style ..
hopefully some other ppl here will give you a lot more help than i could ..

oh and the stories that you mentioned .. have you thought of a blog on the aquarium's website .. or somewhere ... i dont know anything much about blogs .. i've read a few but got bored ..
ppl do use instagram for stuff like posting pics and announcements tho .. just another two cents worth ..
up to 4 cents now .. sorry i cant give you $100 worth ..

edit to say ... instagram users can be like a person or a business .. and either way you can have a link to a website of your choice ..

Vivi and I have had a FaceBook page for our gallery for a couple of years and it's hard to imagine not having it. It's the way we stay in touch with old friends, customers, put it out there what we're doing, showcase new work..... We change it up and it helps us to ensure we always have something to offer.

Do you put pricing there or do you tell customers to contact you? And how do you have them contact you? Via Messanger?

Don't do pricing. Our stuff is not cheap. I use first quality materials for enlarging & framing and go fasirly large; Vivi paints in oils and makes seriously beautiful pottery/ceramics, and so we feel that our wares need to be seen in person before discussing pricing.

We encourage people to come to the gallery. We usually tell people to PM us through the FB page. Our cards that we have to hand out have our contact numbers and e-mail addresses on them.
