My creativity skills have been spinning in the porcelain throne where our "brown ribbon" gets its name. (My poor DPL team!) I knew my entry for Serpentine wasn't good and the voters confirmed it.

I've officially earned:
for

But the funny part is that, when I went to confirm that I did in fact finish last, I learned I already had a last place finish. From 5 years ago!

I'm thinking this one really only finished last because it was a horrible fit for the challenge but it's a brown all the same.

The only way to go from here is up. :)

My one and only. I was pretty upset at the time, but looking at it now, it's really not sharp - my Sigma 18-200 isn't very good and I rarely use it any more. The processing isn't get either. Can't blame that on anyone but myself.

Fleeting moment -- chanced to see a couple along the edge of the water. I had no idea who they might be. Made the image using iPhone as the only thing available to me. Then made my way down there and learned they were out celebrating their one year wedding anniversary. They liked the image a lot and greatly appreciated receiving a copy. Their warm response more than counterbalanced the brown ribbon status this received.

Oh! I never checked. I GOT ONE, TOO!!

Yipppeee!

I've always wanted one while trying to get a "real" virtual ribbon!

Yep . . . I would never TRY for a Brown, but I could definitely handle a "real" one. Congratulations, Lydia. I know I finished next to last once . . . is that kind of like a tiny violin for the Brown?? But how do I check easily to see whether I've ever finished last? (This week the operant word is "easily" as I am swamped!)

Congratulations -- now you only need another 30 or so to "catch up" ... ;-)

At one point I think we were going to make a Tan ribbon for next-to-last, and an Ecru one for third-from last, but I don't think it ever happened ... feel free to make some though!

To easily find your lowest scores sort your entries on your profile page by placement/percentile (click on the little arrow at the top of the table) and any Browns should be on the first or last page of results (depending on sort "direction").

Thank you, General. That was exactly what I needed to know - never even SAW those little sort arrows!! Bet they would have come in handy for other things LOL

But now that I've checked, I wish I hadn't. The ONLY subject I'm really vulnerable about when it comes to scoring is my granddaughter. In fact, I actually try to avoid entering pictures of her here, even when I think they are perfect for the challenge, because cute kids do so badly. Seriously. And I've told my team to avoid it, too.

But guess what my Tan ribbon is? Tell me this isn't the cutest picture ever!!

That is ADORABLE, Nikki!

I think it was the soft focus that got you a near ribbon.

No matter to us. We will always treasure it and the memory of that day and moment. Her little "Happy Birthday to Me. Happy Birthday to Me!" is engraved in the family memory. And I guess that's where this photo documenting the moment should have stayed :) Thanks, though, Lydia.

Very cute! In another challenge (Best ofs are TOUGH) there’s no way that could be anywhere near brown ribbon territory.

I try to prioritize having a quality picture over picture quality -- unfortunately this does not mesh that well with the predominant DPC scoring model ... and documenting that exceptionally-cute moment is what helps keep that family memory from eroding.

yeah, I have about 12, some of which I am inordinately proud of.

eta: grammer correction. I am not afraid to end a sentence a preposition with.

I’ve got a tan which I really liked and still do, it brings me back to all the fun and adventure of the moment.
I’d link it here but I’m using the iPad right now.
