are challenge entry pages looking more and more like a stock photo library? discuss!

I've always thought this site's participants were primarily stock / studio style photographers. I don't think there's anything wrong with that; it is what it is. When I think of stock libs, I usually think of technically correct shots of fairly dry material (when compared to a fine art gallery). Things that would look great in a marketing slide, but not typically what I'd hang on my walls. Challenge submissions, while not always "wall worthy", still seem to have a bit more artistic interest than straight stock to me, so I'll say no... Challenge entry pages still look like challenge entry pages to me.

being in vermont - with the cold season bearing down on us. i have little choice but to focus more on studio shots during the cold season than during the spring, and summer. i imagine there are others out there in a similar predicament.

| Ugh, I agree. Sometimes it can look very generic, but the quality IS improving. |

Well stock work is technically fine but otherwise it's banal!

Isn't photography generally supposed to appeal to the sense of vision more than smelling? LOL!

Winter should not force you indoors (unless of course it's -40 or there's a blizzard). There are lots of opportunities for outdoor shots no matter what the season. But on those not so pleasant very cold blustery days do try the studio setup. ;oP

I'd love to get the chance to do some shooting outdoors in cold weather.
I'm getting fed up of it still being in the 80's.
