Hey all Mac peeps here on DPC...I know there are a few... I am running Mavericks (OS X 10.9.5) on a macmini. As I want to do some online banking, I have to upgrade to Yosemite (OSX 10.10.5).

However before I can install that I have to download Yosemite (OS X 10.10.) Needless to say I can't find it, not even on the apple site - just useless crap like printer drivers etc clutter up that section.

And no, can't get away with downloading and installing Yosemite 10.1...still won't work, says I need 10.10.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!!!! And please refrain from telling me to just go buy a new Mac, I am strapped for cash and that is NOT an option.

I work on macmini 10.8.5 Yosemite. Make sure you have a backup before upgrading.
Stay with Yosemite for a while. I tried to upgrade to High Sierra and nothing worked any longer. Have to get a newer computer

Thanks for the advice and yes I did backup the drive. I want to stay with Yosemite, but my hand is being forced. Or so it feels. :-/

Kroburg, I did find the links at the bottom of that page you linked me too, but all those OS X 10.10 are linked to an upgrade - so I still install anything.

I need a dedicated link to Mac OS X (Yosemite) 10.10. Not OS X 10.10.1, or 10.10.x. Just flipping OS X 10.10. Why is this so difficult?!

I'm curious why online banking requires this upgrade.

I've always been a "mac guy" due simply to the fact that graphic design has been my main use for computers. But honestly as time goes by Apple's methods are getting more and more questionable - I suppose that's what happens when shareholders drive progress and your primary visionary passes away.

Anyway, here's a link that might be of use. I wasn't sure which Mac Mini you have ... If it is hard to update, it may not be compatible.

I can't do online banking on my Mac anymore because the bank's latest "security upgrade" won't work with the browser(s) I have installed, and the browser can't be updated without an OS update, and that can't happen without acquiring newer hardware. This is a common occurrence ... :-(

Well I can download the upgrades fine but can't install them. Checked the link and there is absolutely no OS X 10.10 at all, though looks like my macmini should be ablew to hndle up to 10.11. I hate technology.

And yes, tate, what Paul said....frickin security upgrades. Esp for online banking which is already becoming way more trouble than it's worth. All I want is to be able to move $$ from paypal to my bank accounts, and not being able to do it is driving me crazy.

Any chance you have a smartphone and you could use the bank's app?

Is it your bank you have trouble with or PayPal? AFAIK you can move the money from within your PP account without logging in to the bank's site, and I think PP was working with an older browser last time I checked.

Nope no smartphone.

The problem isn't Paypal, it's the bank, they keep telling me I have to upgrade my browser and I can't upgrade my browser til I get frickin Yosemite 10,10. Grrrr....

Have you tried all the browsers ?
Chrome, Firefox, safari .... there are others but those are the most popular.

AFAIK you can log into PayPal and transfer the money to (or from) your bank without dealing with the bank's website at all.

I remember my sister having this problem with Wells Fargo. She could no longer use Internet Explorer, so I set her up with another browser (can't remember which at the moment). I don't know if this is relevant but maybe that might work.

You can? But how?

I just logged in to PayPal -- right under the current balance is a button labeled "Transfer Money" which, when you click it, provides two buttons: one to transfer money to your (previously linked) bank account(s), and one to pull money from that account into PayPal.

One other workaround which hasn't been mentioned is to use a computer at a public library -- most of those are kept pretty up-to-date.

I already tried that, and my bank won't allow you to use a public comp cause of the risks. Couldn't even enter my card #.

I also did see the links in Paypal that you mention but makes no diff...as soon as I ask it to transfer funds and it connects to my bank I get some BS notice about things not being right at my bank's end. so frickin frustratin.
