I have always enjoyed the Day in the Life series where photo teams branch out all over the world to shoot something interesting or touching or quaint taking place all on the same day. It shows the diversity on planet Earth.
Was thinking it would be fun to do something similar as a Challenge. Perhaps not a Day in the Life but how about something that was personally relevant to the submitter that occurred during the challenge week.

I like this idea! But will be a hard challenga because it will be difficult to explain with a photo what was personally relevant to you. Others might not understand that. But that's a good photographic challenge.

Maybe make it a little more specific, something like (as Karen once suggested) take a picture pertaining to your 'Culture' and a day in that life...?

Yeah, a culture challenge would be great. Even in different areas of the USA we have different cultures and backgrounds.

Wait a second... If we do culture, I'll be out of luck!!! I live in LA!

I guess I could shoot some yogurt or something...

I visited LA a couple of times. You have lots of regional culture there. Freeway traffic jams, tourism, movie sets, skating and skateboarding, surfing, I could go on and on.

No culture in LA -- I've got to assume you're joking around. :-)

I'd head down to Alvera Street.

Yep I'm kidding :) I grew up in the shadow of NYC and we always joked about LA... As long as counter culture would qualify, the left coast would do well :)

This would be a good and a fun challenge....

But I think I''m in a photographer''s version of writer''s block! Had no ideas for "Corporate World", so I bowed out, it is now Friday and I have done nothing yet with "Something Old" ... Yikes!!!
I''m beginning to panic! I CAN''T go another week without checking in on comments and votes! Maybe withdrawal symptoms are hazing my vision!!

Sorry - didn''t mean to meander from the topic.

Dont feel bad im in the same boat as you, I didnt submit either and havent even thought about what to shoot for the old challenge. Althought I always find a little deadline pressure creates inspiration.

I think this is a great idea! It doesn't even have to be about culture -- it could be kind of a free study where everyone shoots something that they deal with everyday (boredom at work, kids, rebuilding a house, whatever).

Perhaps one of the neater aspects of this would be that we would have a little portfolio of how different we all are, but yet all share the same hobby (and even the pros out there would probably have to admit that photography started as a hobby).

Even if we didn't do it with this site, we could host it somewhere else. I've got a website I'd be willing to set up to try this out....
