FYI: Photoshop CC 2015.5 is a full version update. As such, if you install it you will need to reinstall your 3rd party plug-ins for them to work with CC 2015.5.

Thanks, Richard. I was just about to update the my post to say it was dead easy to reinstall. I was worried I would have to search for a license key somewhere...

I knew I would lose Nik with the upgrade, my problem now is that after downloading Nik on the PC ( smooth and easy) it does not show up under the filters in CC 2015.5. I had no problem with installing CC and downloading Nik on my laptop. There was an issue with the CC upgrade install and I'm wondering if that is the reason for the Nik problem. After CC upgrade completed I got a pop up saying that "Photoshop encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware."

PsCC major updates always kill all of my 3d party tools. Nik requires reinstallation, and as you said it's easy, particularly given that it's free (if your registry screws up you just start from scratch) - thankfully I didn't lose my saved presets (back those suckers up just in case).

As for the other filter tools (On1, Topaz, DxO, etc), make a backup of the Plug Ins folder before installing the latest version. After installing, simply copy the contents of that folder into the new (and mostly empty) Plug Ins folder for the new Ps CC version. I wish they'd copy it for you, but I guess they don't want to be responsible if there are incompatibility issues.

Just looking at this thread makes me feel I should avoid the temptation to upgrade my Photoshop. I'm still using CS5.

If you google "how to move third party plugins from photoshop cc 2015 to photoshop cc 2015.5 there are ways to do it without having to reinstall everything. There are several good videos on how to do it. I copied the plugins folder from photoshop cc and then pasted it into the new photoshop cc 2015.5 plug in folder, restarted and they were in the new edition. Hope that helps

That did help, illini75. It usually goes right in after downloading ..... copy and paste works too..

This. Just back up the presets & plugins and then copy them back to the relevant folders under 2015.5 once the update is done.
