I am seriously planning to study photography and Sweden or Denmark are the easiest choices because I live in Iceland. I am however starting my research and I was hoping someone here could help. The plan is to start in the fall of 2006.

I am not trying to start a digital vs. film debate but as far as I am concerned, film is dying and I can´t see a reason for me to study it so I am preferrably looking for a school that would teach not only photography techniques but also some form of "photoshopping" if you know what I mean.

How about apply as a laerling. I tried getting a job (allready having my photogrpahy degree) and the photographer said.. oh no sorry, we are looking for a laerling, you are too over qualified. I wanted to work for them, or study with them, but i coudln't. I asked with a photographer in canada, and he said, well if you work for free for me for a couple years, then i might hire you. If you want to get training to be a portrait or commerical photographer, i might check out just trying to work under a photographer you really admire.

Not going to happen that way. I have a wife, a son who will be almost 4 in 2006 and my wife is pregnant just now so there will be another 2 year old in the mix when we supposedly move. She is also going to school at the same time. Also I have to be in school to qualify for a loan so school is just about the only way I can go.

well i dunno how it is in sweden.. but if it is the same as in norway.. i might think that if you are a laerling (sort of an apprentice) then that might qualify you for a student loan... it IS a school sort of a program.. and i think you probably would get some sort of degree or something when you were finished.

Hi larus! Here in Göteborg is a photography university, the "School of Photography and Film at Göteborg university".

I live in Denmark but have no experience with any education in that area.

Just did a search via google and found these links :
link 1
link 2
link 3

It's a start. I suggest you find some websites in Denmark to post your question on, you might get more response there.
