The Castle

I need help on this original image.

On the right-hand side of the image there is a bush obscuring the side of the castle.
I would like to see the vertical edge of the castle.

In Photoshop can I do some sort of mirror image for the part that is obscured?

I would be most grateful for the steps.

Kind regards
johnbrennan

Hmm not an easy one as not sure what the side of the castle looks like under the tree.

Here is a quick and dirty selection that has been flipped horizontally.

Yes, that's all I need to do.

So what did you select to flip it?
Did you position the point in the centre of that column?

I intend to use this image as background.
One column on the right side of the frame.
One column on the left side of the frame.
The foreground person will end up between the two columns.

How did you do that so quickly, and then sent it back to me?

I just used the selection tool and grabbed a rectangle the full height of the photo starting from the middle of the tower and going to the left taking in the windows.

I cut and pasted the selection then flipped horizontally the new layer and positioned it

I did it so quickly as the above is all I did:)

Sounds like you are trying to do something like this?

Thank you PAUL, that is exactly what I want.

Maybe I would have the columns a little bit closer to the edge, but I will address that later.

This is going to be my first ever Photoshop project.
I am really looking forward to it.
I have been studying the tutorials over the last month or so, and intend to SUBSCRIBE to Photoshop CC.

Just seeing what you did to The Castle makes me very excited.

At this point, I know zilch about LightRoom, but that can wait. I want to get this castling thing happening.

At first, I will be slow, but once I get into the rhythm of it, my speed will increase.

I was completely amazed at how quickly you were able to get that first mirror image of the castle column back to me.

After seeing your latest image I am thinking that I would use the columns as the corners of the castle.

Before I ask a new question, I thank you for your help.

Now my question is this:
The top part of the castle column is complete in the original image.
Is it possible to mirror image the bit in the middle and leave the top as is?

Thanks John.

In reply to your question, I see no reason why not. It would simply be a case of selecting a rectangle to copy and paste that does not include the top part.

All I did was copy and paste really. I did do a little bit of cloning to remove some tree but that was probably just due to me not selecting a good enough section to copy and paste.

Just shout if you get stuck.
