I have a request.

I hereby wish to take the Yellow Ribbon off my entry in the Master's Challenge and pass it to a submission that was FAR more deserving.

sher's submission, is in a word, perfect IMO.

What makes this so much better? It is life, real and precious. It is a minute slice of time, frozen forever, that 30 years from now, will continue to bring smiles on faces, bring back memories and warm hearts.

A sailboat mast snapshot is better than this? Glad I have my values in the right place.

So Site Council, can we put this to a vote by the participating members in this challenge?
My validation hasn't been submitted yet, so...

Brad,
Congrats on yet another ribbon. You're a rising star here, and your offer above shines your light even brighter!

I'm sure you didn't post in jest, Brad - but you likewise cannot be serious in this request :-)

Sorry Brad, but I don't see that as an option. It's a novel idea, and Sher's shot is indeed excellent. But I would give you odds that the outcome would be the same. And, since the anonomous value has been removed, I would think the SC would not go for the bait.

I love Sher's image too Brad (as you can tell from my comment), but the voters have spoken, right?

I think moving ribbons after the fact, in spite of the scores, would go counter to the spirit and intent of the challenge concept.

Well, my opinion is that a challenge must have a sense of integrity and to transfer any honors is to defy that which the voters spent many hours on in voting.

Your gesture is very much appreciated because it indicates arather unselfish nature. However, if this were even allowed, it would then forever bring every challenge to question as to whether other images should have ribboned and their apparant redress.

Your image is not up there by coincidence and while I see your point there are other images that would have taken top honors in an art challenge and top honors in other different challenges.

Your image creates a strong visual amd the voters have spoken. I agree with your sentiments and i wanted to switch honors with my Balance contraption with the egg shot, which I thought was better.

Brad,

I gave yours a 10 and Sher's a 9 - they are both excellent pics and in my opinion Sher's pic deservered a much higher place than it got.

BUT, c400 people have made there choice on what gets placed where, to alter the results at this point is disrecpectful to both the voters and the system.

while you are certainly being sincere and very gracious toward another member, why do you think that winning a ribbon (very well deserved, by the way!) gives you the sole right to bump up an entry from 22nd place to 3rd place over all the others that hundreds of members voted on and scored higher than Sher's image?

I wanna transfer all my ribbons to DrJones!
And Jacko can get some of my favories, and Heida can get all my comments.

My "views" goes to kiwiness.

Who can do this?

I would be curious as to the outcome if it were up to a vote amongst the participants of this challenge.
If someone wants to relinquish their ribbon and pass it on to someone else, why not? Happens in sporting events all the time.

Wasn't intended to change actual placing, just where the ribbon is hung.

I did state earlier that i would refrain from posting after my childish outburst in another post but i cannot hold back my feelings over this matter. The photograph in question is absolutely stunning and perfect in every way it shows a talent and an eye seldom seen and is certainly deserving of a blue ribbon and is probebly THE best picture i have seen on any challenge site. Your request is indeed honourable but I also feel you should not take anything away from your shot either, it is amazing and shows a great eye. People have opinions and there are many strange things happen on this site and Im affraid the fact that this photograph did not make top 5 amazes me but the large percent of voters did not share the opinion of the few that saw this picture for what it is. A MASTERPIECE.

You have my upmost respect sir and I think you should be proud of your picture too it is fantastic and deserved the ribbon too.

Anyway have to run i have to post my submission for October study :P

What a gracious offer! I have to say though.. I don't think the image was a top 3, or even a top 10 image. (no offense Sher!)

That midnight sepia PS action gives the picture a "green snot" appearence.

You entered the shot in hopes for a ribbon... we all did. Sher's shot is beautiful, but the voters chose yours.

Take pride in your 'Masters' ribbon, so far there are only 3 of them and you have one of them.

Think of the nightmare that this would give birth to. Every challenge would find one winner who feels that someone else should have received the honor. This would almost render many challenges impotent and some voters would drop out because their vote would be disqualified by a participant.

If you're looking for the opinion of an SC member, here's mine: a very thoughtful gesture but not going to happen. The participants of the challenge were given the option to vote, as were the members...just like in every other challenge. Now, I love Sher and her photo but the popular vote placed it where the voters wanted it and unfortunately, we don't revote because we aren't satisfied with the outcome. We also don't single-handedly determine who we want the ribbon to go to.

There have been multiple threads about Sher's photo so it's pretty obvious that it struck a chord with number of people. And I happen to know that Sher is pretty happy with her photo as well. Really, that's all that should matter.

Guess this does kind of open a can of worms huh?

Yes, but maybe there were hanging chads on the votes for Sher and votes didn't count?

..oops, wrong election...
