Hi All! Long time no see!

I haven't been around much since my eye surgery in the beginning of September. I've lost my mojo for awhile, and I need to pick up my camera and try to get the passion back.

BUT...

There's a guy trying to start a first annual photography show. We're supposed to pick 5 things to enter. They do have cash prizes, which would be really helpful for Christmas! The thing is: the show is December 12th, and I need to get things printed. And I'm at a loss as to what to enter. If anyone has some extra time on their hands, would you mind looking through my profile and suggesting 5 things that you would enter if you were I (or is it your were me? Myself...?)

I'd really appreciate it! Luckily I haven't entered much in the last couple of months, so there's only 861 in the profile. ;) I have a couple of things in mind, but I have a feeling they're the wrong things...

ETA: honestly, you have so much good stuff. I picked these by filtering by which images had the most favorites, then picked my faves from there. Some images simply look even better as large prints (as opposed to on a screen) so I guess that is something to keep in mind as well.

also I don't think you can go wrong using an image that score higher than a 8 =)

Have they done this show before? Do you know who votes and can you see what won?

Too many to choose from... Print out thumbnails of all of them, attach to a dart board, and throw darts - enter those. For example...

FWIW - I'd choose five images that vary greatly in approach, style, and content.
I pity your competition.

Trust David. Seriously. He's brilliant at this selection business :)

A no-brainer.....

Simply one of the most spectacular images I have ever seen.

The back-lighting? Exquisite!

Just *SO* ridiculous it's positively wonderful.

It's just such a wondrous small town, growing up, wholesome, earthy moment.

LOVE these trees! Not as much as you, obviously, but still.....

This is the one I like best of those trees:

Actually, you kind of have your work cut out for you. If there's any way you can figure out the demographics of the likely viewers, that would help.

You've got so much over such a broad spectrum.

I love these, too, a lot, but they're definitely not mass appeal pieces.

Best of luck!

Just be aware that I did not look at all the possibilities - there may be even better shots that I didn't see. I was at least semi-serious about the dart board approach.

This has been fun to watch, simply because there are things I never would have thought of! I have a tendency to get my favorites in mind and skip over others. But now that they've been mentioned it's an "oh yeah!! That would be fun!" Thanks!

(this is the first annual -- the guy is trying to get something going, so there is no history to see.)

Definitely still interested in people's thoughts -- I'm sending things to print tomorrow by noon. So if you want to pipe in, it's all greatly appreciated. :)

thanks again!

Wendy, you should have your own show. You have an incredible portfolio!. I am away and on my phone so I cannot help.
I hope you get your mojo back...I hope we all do. It feels like we are gasping for air.

Hi Wendy! :) That is wonderful news about the show. Thanks for sharing. Your portfolio has so many great images to choose from. Any idea to how big you want to print? Who is doing the judging? I've printed images that I personally don't see as being my favorites but did have fun giving another full reign of picking. The only issue with that is, you might end up with prints of images you don't have the strongest feelings for. I feel when it's time to print for a show, you gotta love the image. My non-faves are collecting dust and I don't have the heart to give them as gifts. They're good shots but they're not favorites. So after a popular vote cull, do go with your own edit in the end. Don't forget to add one you love but maybe wasn't mentioned.

With that said (and since you've probably already chosen your top picks) I still can't help but say: The "The Dressing Down" image the others mention is a no brainer ;) Should look amazing in print.

Hope your eyes are feeling better.

Wendy, you have soooooo many amazing images to choose from it would be hard to narrow down. Like what Techo mentioned, if you know who'll be doing the judging and their style of photography, that might help you to select what to enter.
