I should not be setting here reading the DPC forum :) but it is so hard to go cold turkey!

I am trying to get packed for our trip to New Mexico, Arizona and Utah.
We will be leaving very early in the morning (Friday 10/08) and be gone for approxiamtely two weeks if we can get away with it. My wife is an Accountant and for her to get away that long would be a miracle in itself.

We will have our son's old laptop so we can view photos but more than likely will not be editing any. I hope to log on from the hotels high speed connections at night when I get time so I may leave a message on our journey. I have set up my IM (RCalvus) so I can use that also along the way.

Sure will miss DPC for the short time we are gone :)

Edit:

I forgot! I wanted to thank everyone for the help, suggestions and tips for planning this trip. Thanks again!

Just had 9 days out that way in mid-September. Wonderful, amazing scenery!

If the hotel connections fail you, don't forget to try the public libraries. Cost me a small $3 donation to use the internet at Page Public Library //www.cityofpage.org/library/library.html Well worth it.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks!
We will be in no hurry and we will try to keep our eyes open and we will get lots of photos. As long as my portable HD holds up :)

Well we arrived at the Grand Canyon late today and we have been real busy since leaving Friday morning at 5:00am

We did not get here untill late we made quite a few other stops on the way. So I have not had much time to check out the canyon.

I am setting in the hotel checkng my email and working on loading my photos onto the portable hd. Here is an undedited shot from the few we have of the grand canyon today.

I am using my son's old laptop so all I could do is load it and save it in MS Paint. So I am notsure how good it really is.

faidoi

Thanks.

I can't tell on this laptop how good they really are. We can't wait to get gome and look at them on our home computer. I loaded a couple more into my portfolio under Grand Canyon.

Thanks again

Will check back when I can

I forgot to mention they had a small fire on the west rim today and there was a bit of smoke/haze across the canyon. Was not sure the pics would turn out. Hopefully in the morning it will be much better. I plan on getting up about 4 or 5:00a and be in the canyon early before the crowd.
