So, it looks like things are falling into place for me to actually do this! The summer started out pretty bad, but it's going to end with a bang.

My husband accepted an opportunity to work on the road full-time in the meter business. This Friday ends my 2 week notification at my job. My brother has offered to buy my house 'as is' to keep it in the family... meaning all I have to do is empty out my clothes and food and he gets to move into a fully furnished home. We will have enough left over for a down-payment on a nice used RV. AND, several of the RV parks I have talked to have expressed interest in trading a hook-up for some photos of their park.

We will save $2000/mo alone without our mortgage and his motel room bill. Health Ins will take a good chunk of that, but hey! I'll finally be able to put 8 hours a day into photography instead of coming here to my desk job.

I never thought I'd say this but I think it might just be blog time!.... "Humans of the RV Park" LOL, jk!

Any RVers out there?!

I'm sort of a wannabe RVer :-) In my earlier life I was on the road a LOT in a series of Westfalias. But not for the last 20 years. I do miss being on the road for extended periods. So I'm jealous, sorta.

We've been camping for years. Love it. I get to go places that I've never been to before...

I am super stoked! We will be in Portsmouth probably first, then on to Texarkana, then we get to pick where for a few weeks of vacationing. I'm thinking west coast. Never been there.

Tune in to PBS tonight for a live broadcast from Monterey Bay -- should be whales, otters, all kinds of other stuff ...

Not an Rv'er but make a majority of my money working on them. With the right RV you could have a great experience traveling the country. Good luck

That sounds like a bundle of fun Cynthia! Not quite the same but 3 years ago I had the opportunity to move to a Hebridean Island. Best thing I ever did :)

I don't want to scare you but this just came up on my FB feed. Is FB/Google watching my forum views here?

Since I don't think they've bought one yet you might offer a recommendation as to which is least likely to require your services.

My services are strictly exterior paint work so I wouldn't be much help in that department. Whether its a $50k RV or a $800k RV they all will need paint work at some point. The only advice I can give is to use it. Use it a lot, which it sounds like you will be doing. Things tend to break easier when they sit around for months at a time

Congratulations and super jealous! Since really getting into taking photos the last few years I have realized how much I love to travel and see new and different places! Good luck in your adventures!

I see ... can you afford the same "boat payments" as the mechanics? (Car Talk reference)

Welcome to the club!! We've been full-time RV'ers for 5 years, living in a 5th wheel. My husband always says "everything you need, nothing you don't"! Some people love it, some don't...can't wait to see how you enjoy the lifestyle! Have fun!

I can't wait! ...and I think it's perfect for me. I guess we'll see.

A fifth wheel is an option but my hubby's truck doesn't have the pulling strength. Also, he doesn't want to get a bigger truck because it would be harder to work from. So we're going motorized. We'll have around 40K from selling the house, so we're hoping for a down payment on something used around 60K.

Thanks everyone for all the comments!

Still debating on size. That's the current issue. We have two dogs and I've heard anything over 32' was harder to find hookups for. IDK, will definitely take a while on this purchase, LOL.

ETA: downsizing has definitely proved to be a love/hate relationship. Cleansing, but scary.

We just spent our vaca in an RV for the first time, kinda a borrowed, but it was enough to where we want our own, we will have one next year for sure! But as we had it, we sure did love it! Sure beats a hotel when you travel :-))

So excited for you and your adventures!

You ARE coming to see me. I can point you to a bunch of good camps for weekdays not near a holiday. (For weekends and holidays, it's six months in advance, baby, at the very second the reservations open, and then it's all by luck of the draw!)

But I have a driveway if all else fails. :-)

We became full time RVers or as we call them in Australia grey nomads in February 2014 and are loving it. We rented our house in Sydney and spend 6 months travelling Oz and 6 months in a Motorhome we bought in UK travelling Europe. Best decision we ever made. I manage to still work part time on the road and Mike has retired. It has given us way more freedom and time of course to shoot!! We will probably sell the house and downsize to an apartment in Queensland in 2-3 years. Who knows?? Best of luck Cynthia.
