Taking your values above, you have 14 votes and 5.5 as average, the absolute number of points is therefore 14x5.5=77
Let's say, after a click of the update button you see 15 votes and 5.53333. Now you have 15x5.53333=83, so the last voter gave you a 6 (83-77=6).
Obviously you can only be sure if you manage to update after each vote. If the number of votes increases by more than 1 you can only get the average of the recent votes. And if someone changes his vote at the same time, the accuracy decreases even more.
