I actually found one last thurs. It was a beauty. So I set up a test drive for fri. when I went in someone had put a deposit on it for purchase on Saturday.
Anyway it was a 2014 chevy 1500 z71 Highcountry. Pretty much fully loaded. This thing would almost cook you breakfast. It was used but only had 15000 miles on it.
So my frustration continues. Looking for a new vehicle with the things I want on it for the right price

A friend has a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. He loves it. Fully loaded.
We had 16.7 inches of snow fall the other night and he said he had no
problems driving through it to get home. |

| Car companies love it when people buy trucks like that. A $20k truck, with $30k of options that cost them maybe $3k to add at the factory. |

LOL trucks now are like luxury cars that can haul cargo and go through the mud
That truck had everything on it that any luxury car would have. Heated / cooled seats, leather, backup camera, voice activated controls, bose stereo system, etc.

Yeah I'm sure it was great. Those 2014 GM trucks have a lot of noise insulation, real quiet ride and comfortable although a bit of a climb because all the trucks these days ride high even without a lift kit.
Personally if I were in the market for a truck I'd get a RAM 1500 base model 4x4 with V6 and 8-speed. Even the base models have a lot of things that used to be luxuries. And that V6 is more powerful than the 350 in my 98 GMC and gets more MPG. Although probably doesn't sound as cool. |

This is the sign that truck builders only care about guys who do construction when they are filming their advertisements. In their current incarnation as macho luxury vehicles, the current bed design had the cargo box 42 inches above the ground and the sidewalls 20 inches higher. I'm 6 feet tall and I need a friggin' ladder to pull tools over the sidewall. So until this silly trend is over, my work requires me to buy old trucks and rebuild as needed.
That said the Silverado line has been pretty durable for a friend's business and the new aluminum body Ford is putting into the F series looks like it could change how trucks are built.

If you absolutely need a fullsize, then go for it, but lots of folks that get one don't really need one, and I can't say enough about my Tacoma. Thing has 240k on it like it's no big deal and can climb up damn near anything.

| Chevy & GM pickups are made right here in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The quality of build our folks do was one of the reasons our plant survived the last 10 years - and even got a further expansion. Not saying you can't get a lemon, but to me it says something when the folks that build them take great pride in their work. |

Here's a story of a guy whose '08 Chevy PU got crushed and the driver survived with only a couple of scratches. News photo show the Indiana sticker of the auto plant on the door frame. Incredible story.
