anyone know when or if there is an update for Photoshop and ACR and lightroom so that the programs can recognize the Nikon D750 files? ... i'm getting sick and tire of having to covert them all in NX2 to TIFF files ...

Good lord, I wish it was yesterday. No idea why Nikon doesn't get this stuff out to them early so that folks can use their new equipment with something else.

That said, there's a Beta version of ACR and the DNG converter that will allow you to open the D750 files in Photoshop (via ACR) and Lightroom (convert first to DNG). I'm doing the DNG conversion route and keeping the NEF files around, and importing the DNG's into LR. I edit the DNG files normally, figuring when LR catches up I'll pull the NEF files in (same folders) and simply copy the settings from the DNG file to the NEF file and then ditch the DNG's. Still an extra step in the import, but it keeps it in the normal workflow.

The answer is, because for some twisted reason, the camera manufacturers still regard their proprietary RAW formats and the associated software as some sort of competitive advantage. How they continue to convince themselves of this, when almost nobody uses their software (unless they have to) I do not know. You'd think that they would see the light, so to speak, and move toward a strategy that wouldn't require constant updates to software by Adobe and others.
Heck, they could ditch the development effort on their own software and be way ahead on cost.
