Nice one, you could say it opens up a whole new world for you :) What did you get to attach the cam to it?
I'm sat here with an old Russian scope, waiting for the dark nights to draw in :)

James, good setup!

My neighbour and I have been building an observatory in his back garden for the past four months and next week we will be installing the scope, Meade 14" (don't know the number, he used to use LX200 with GPS, 10")

He is getting a 20D for astro work, so hopefully will be able to show some here very soon.

Keep at it matey! It's great fun.

Sweet mercy! A 1200mm owner would be pretty jealous of that!

Looking forward to seeing some shots! :-D

ok here are some samples, the moon shots were done shortly after I got the scope, the day time shots were done last weekend. THe day time shots are not very sharp and have some purple fringing, but not too bad and can be cleaned up pretty easy.

I use the canon t-mount, the scope has threads that the t-moun screws directly on to.

here is my little 80mm (400mm focal length @ f5) scope with some better shots of the t-mount

Oh your gonna get some good views through the 14 inch scope your neihbor has. it has a focal length of 3556mm @ f/10. I have looked through a celectron 14 inch scope and was very impressed. I used to have an 8 inch scope, but I actually wanted less power for more wide field views.

I like your full size one here James - really interesting.

(Btw, some of your thumbnnails in this don't match the bigger shots. Also the flash on your main page for Cars is a broken link.... I was having a look around.. :-) )

thanks.... when the moon is full again I am going to try and get a sharper image. Im still working out focusing issues with the scope/camera setup.

thanks for letting me know about the thumbs linking to the wrong image, I will fix it later tonight. I really need to get rid of that flash page on the main page as its harder to update when I make changes to the rest of the site

Very cool jab. I was over at the university observatory last night, and the guy that runs the scope said next time I go out there I can attach my 10d + t-ring to the 30" scope and do some imaging. Should be fun. :)

Cool, I tried on the 36" at the observatory i volunteer at, but had a problem getting correct focus so I didnt get a good image.

just take your time when focusing and make sure you get the focus pretty close
