Can anyone recommend a good Boom stand thats available in Canada? I bought one through Adorama, their brand, and it's horrible... once you put a beauty dish or octa up on it the arm starts to fall no matter how tight you tighten it down... I'm looking around the $200-300 mark.. nothing to expensive, I don't use it that often.

thanks.

kevin.

Hire the neighbor kid to hold your stuff while standing on a chair for $5 per shoot.

You need a counter balance weight for it. This is the one I use:

Go to a music store. Buy a boom arm for a drum kit / cymbal.

Heavy duty stuff, but you'll need to mod it just a bit.

Broom Stick ( fluffy side cut off ) Duck tape, and a good heavy Clamp.... bag of sand for counter weight... or rocks if sand isn't available in your area
