What gives? Anyone know? I've decided to steer clear of the expert editing challenges, but that doesn't leave me with anything apart from the free study...

I also tend to cringe a bit when expert challenges come around because I don't do anything remotely 'expert'. But all three topics sound fun so I'm still in. Plus it seems like sometimes folks have success without necessarily compositing a number of photos, so it's worth a shot. (I do admit that a few weeks ago I followed the instructions in the 'flip and blend thread', and it was pretty fun. Those flip and blend photos are just wacky, and far different from anything else I've seen in challenges, so that voting could be a total toss up.)

Okay, okay - I just read the full post on the flip and blends and they are not only fun, but also addicting.
I liked a couple that I just played around with, but I prefer yours Bear_Music...

Amazing what you can do with a single image... *hint, hint*

Someone from the am I wrong or thread must have lots of clout, sad times.

All challenges should be expert, that gives everyone what they want .

If you wish to only process to a minimal standard then do so etc. etc.

I see no valid reason why this is not so.

Works perfectly well elsewhere.

So basically these are just kinda Kaleidoscope images then?

I would have no idea to even go about making something like this...this is totally new to me as well.

I read that thread just for kicks. For everyone who tries it they say "that's fun." And it is!

Don't just unbunch your undies, flip and blend them!

Hey guys, I'm in the USA ATM and only have my IPAD on me, I would love to enter the abstract challenge, but can't seem to find an editing programme that flips images that can be used on my IPAD, I currently have, photo gene, adobe PS, and aviary, none of them seem to have that filter!

Can anyone help?

Please ;)

Check out Laminar Pro. It has the most features I have found in any iPad photo editing app. I just checked, it has layers, it has flip (horiz and vert), it has rotation, it has later blending modes and opacity. It should have everything you need.

The catch is that it's $4.99

Flip and bend is fun but that doesn't take away the fact that there are 3 expert editing challenges in a row.

I know what you mean, I was hoping to be able to enter some images from my trip, but I currently have only one image coming up in a challenge.

Wow, am I happy to see this challenge. A few of us have been playing around with this technique for years now
and it's amazing fun.

For newbies - just follow the instructions, step by step, and the basics come easy. This is also one case where "the
basics" can turn up a stunning image (or not).

But you can't do just one.
