Has anyone tried BitTorrent Sync as a file sync/backup solution? - I've been trying it out for a few days now and it looks good.
You can install it on iPhone, Android, OSX, Windows, or Linux. It allows you to keep specific folders in synch with each other via a 'secret key' sharing process. The iPhone app even lets you keep a continuous backup of your camera roll; When you're connected to wi-fi the app sends any new photos to a sync folder on your other devices.
Interestingly, you can get it running on a NAS drive as well.
This is kind of like DropBox without the third-party. I'm thinking I don't really need my DropBox account anymore. |

Might investigate that, but over the years, I've become quite heavy Google services user, so it's natural for me to use Google Drive for file sharing purposes. Little use for dropbox anymore.
But the BT Sync might offer other possibilities, like you described... |
