You DO NOT need to own a copy of previous software in order to get this bundle. I'm still hoping to get an educational version of all the software through my college...but that requires asking them to give me some paperwork...

I did it.... But it was 90% because of the new Surface Pro..

I had the CS4 key a week or so ago, and they took it, but acted like it made 0 difference to them.. It doesn't really matter to me, since I just need PS for touch-up work.. I've fallen in love Capture One Pro for RAW work and cataloging.

what really sucks is when you've already purchased cs6. I see no purpose for paying $5/month (5 for lightroom, 5 for photoshop), when I already own the latest version. Why continue to pay for it?? Yes, I'll get the upgrade when it comes out, but who knows how long it will be before 7? I think if you've recently purchased a version, you should get the subscription for free for a year. (Or do I already and I just didn't know it?)

It's certainly not a bad deal if you don't own perpetual licenses already... at $120 USD/y it's about as expensive as maintaining an up-to-date perpetual Ps license (well as it used to be when you still could do that) and you get Lr in the bargain. So if they don't raise your rates once they have you on the hook, you're good to go.
For me, I have a perpetual Ps CS6 license, and a perpetual license for Lr 5, so there is no real benefit to going to the cloud.

So I have the dumb question of the day...

I really tempted here...but I travel a lot therefore I use my laptop (which at the moment wouldn't be able to handle the software...it barely handles what I have now..but I do plan to upgrade that...ya...a snowball express)

Am I using the software via the internet therefore if I want to use it on my desktop when home then switch to my laptop when traveling...or am I SOL???

Sigh...I just cked and they (well the person that I talked to this time...wink) won't refund me my upgrade $$ from this past June. But they would offer me a 50% discount for the $49.00 to $29.00 ... NOT what I was wanting...sigh

Current price typically mean current price at renewal. But that's OK because they know you will pay it even if they raise the price. After all you just dumped $120 over the past year for it and if you don't pay again then the software that you kindly payed $120 for just turns itself off.

ETA - Maybe you do get to keep the price based off your last post. Either way I don't like my software turning itself off every time I stop feeding the meter. On top of that there is the threat that if I do stop feeding the meter, the meter price goes up.

I'm good, thanks. I just upgraded to CS6 about 2 months ago. I think I'll just hold off for a couple of years and see how this sorts itself out.

The software does that now, just at a slower pace. Thanks to some upgrades to OSX that eliminated "Rosetta" which provided support for programs intended to run on Power-PC processors, I cannot run my copy of CS2. I have similar issues with PC software at work. Programs that we paid ten of thousands of dollars for, no longer work because the meter has run out. We can, of course always buy a license for the new version.

That is not the meter running out. You buying new computer that doesn't support your software is your own problem and has nothing to do with the software vendor. It's not me buying a new computer, it's all software. I ran CS2 on the same MacBook, via Rosetta. The OSX upgrade that dropped Rosetta meant that software written for Power PC machines was no longer going to run. Anyway, the hardware and software go hand in hand, one obsoletes the other and so on down the line.

I have machines running in the lab on ancient x386 PC's that I can't run any other way. I'd upgrade the PC, but new PC's won't run the manufacturer's software and are incompatible with the cards required to interface with the rest of the machine. The only option is to upgrade the systems for $30-50k a pop. It's the same kind of no pay, no play system at work.

I'm hissing and growling about this, but I think I'll give in, anyway. $10 a month seems a fair enough deal.

Does anybody know how big the initial download is? We are currently having some issues with our internet allowance and I need to be careful. I can't find the size of it all on the FAQ page......
