I just found this website last week and got my first digital camera a week before that. I entered the Texture challenge last week on a whim and am very glad I did. I knew my picture was a horrible example to begin with, but I was short on time and long on curiosity. I knew it wouldn''t score much when I submitted it, but I was "pleasantly" surprised to see that (so far) 10 people took the time to comment on it. Not suprising either that none of the comments were flatering of my entry, but they all offered solid constructive criticisim of what I needed to do to bring it up to level with "good photography" and I had to agree with every comment as I thought about them. This is a GREAT tool for the beginner in photography and I am thankful to those that did take the time to comment. ---Rex

Welcome Rex! I hope you get as much addiction... I mean enjoyment... (ahem..) out of this site and the challenges (and the forums) as we all seem to!
Most of us, however, try to keep our entries annonymous during the voting - although that hasn't happened too much this week (other threads). ;o)
Happy shooting!

I would like to apologize to those to whom I have caused a problem for with my original post here. Intentionally posting my pic title was simply an honest mistake, nothing else! I had no idea that there would be such a stir over this, as is obvious by other forum threads. I know it is like closing the barn door after the cow gets out, but I have gone back and deleted the pic title from my post. If there are any penaltys or judgements to answer for due to this I stand open to recieve them. Rex......

You sure didn't cause a problem for me Rex. No, big deal and I don't think there is a big stir.

Rex,

Don't worry about it at all... there were about 4 photos revealed this week, and this is a controversy that has been going on for a while now. This is a question we really should have put to bed a while ago and the discussion has nothing to do with your photo specifically. In any case, you haven't broken any rules so you have nothing to worry about from that perspective.

Hey, Rex. Hope it didn't sound like I was wagging a finger at you!
;-)
Was just meant to be a helpful hint.
