I'd want my 85mm f/1.8 in there too, if I were in your shoes. Otherwise, good to go... Have fun!

Which 4 days will you be in NYC????
06/04/2013 06:08:47 PM · #6
Definitely take at least 1 extra body for the wedding (the 5Dmk1 would work), both as a backup and so you don't have to swap lenses during important moments. Apart from that, a standard combo of 1x wide, 1x mid zoom, 1x tele zoom, and 1x mid prime (50 or 85) should do the trick :)

I'm only guest not photographing wedding

Ill stick the 85mm in as well

:)

In New York 12th to the 16th June

Are you driving between Spencerport and NYC? Beautiful country through there.

24-105, 50mm

For pity's sake - take one body, one walk-around lens, and talk to people, see what you see. Or skip the gear and bring your iPhone/Android phone. See with your eyes, not with your view finder.

ETA: Not that I would ever take my own advise you understand.

Is all that on a carry on bag? I hope so or they may have one freaky happy crooked baggage handler in town!

I'd put it in a double locked heavy metal case if I were checking it - those handlers can destroy anything, no matter how well packaged it is.

Yeah carry on, I'd only check in a peli case with my gear

ild take your 16-35and whatever 1 other zoom you like. Full frame body. that should take care of things. Wouldn't weigh down too heavy - it can slow a man down. One body's enough - worst case scenario NYC has dirt cheap 2 hour camera repair.

I'm thinking this advice is probably just a wee bit tardy. ;)

Giles,

Very wet today here indeed I live about 10 minutes from Spencerport. If you are looking for some sites I can try and point you in the right direction.

Finger lakes is so gorges!!! (Wait, no... that's Ithaca is gorges... At least that's what my t-shirt says. :)

I'd love to go back there again. The gorges and waterfalls are so beautiful. We lived in Ithaca for 2 years. I love the area.
