Comments disabled - because you know they'd be getting a ration of shit from people for being out there. 3 experienced (and very cautious) storm chasers died during that rampage. These guys did not look very experienced and the video details mention they were impeded by "Storm chaser traffic". To each his own, I suppose - if that's how you want to go out, have at it, but I see problems increasing with the popularity of chasing and the increase in violent weather.

Kickass footage, though. :)

I don't know if I should call them brave or stupid guys.

I think "lucky" would describe them pretty well.

Awesome. Stupid. Stupid-awesome.
It was great to see the expressions on that dude's face. I would have wanted him to shut the ---- up though.

I would have thought the driver would have told him to get a grip, and let him concentrate on driving.

Wild footage... Not sure I'd want the whole world watch me be the only one in the vehicle to crack and scream like a little kid, though.

that's what i was thinking.

i dont get everyone calling them dumb or stupid. just because they appropriate risk differently than you doesn't make them stupid.

we have lots of great images and video form people who were "stupid" with their own safety. kudos to them.

I have no problems with people who are daring... but when I was younger I did get to develop a disdain for those who failed to carefully analyze the gravity of their undertakings with the ensuing results that schmucks like me had to go out and rescue them.

Kudos to those who can plan effectively, appreciate the intricacies of their undertaking and have the foresight to extricate themselves from precarious situations... the rest, well TFB for them if they get stuck.

I think they are just mimicking what they see on TV shows like Stormchasers to try to provide good drama for the video. Dude. I'm right here. If you'd roll up the window you wouldn't have to yell! :)

There is money in the dramatic and dangerous. The more dramatic and dangerous, the more money. So the storm chasers push harder and deeper into the storms to get the money shot.

So, whose fault is it? The consumers that consistently ask for more, better, closer; or the chasers who push beyond sane limits in the name of fame, fortune, and the adrenaline rush?

That it was well experienced pros that paid the price, suggests to me that we do not understand these weather systems well enough for even the experienced pros to closely approach them with any degree of certainty.

But it will continue, both the serious scientists and the thrill seekers. That's human nature....

Sadly, the idiots usually get in the way of the planners.
