Hi,

Can't believe I just notices my camera has a sepia setting the other day. Thought I would try a couple of shots, but not really quite sure what the optimum qualities of a "sepia" print should be. Please let me know if I'm on the right track or not?

The first one is a sharper focus, the second one was meant to be a "soft" focus. All comments positive or negative appreciated!

I really like the shaper photo, it's beautiful. The second shot is pretty, but there doesn't seem to be as much detail because of the softer focus. I like the first one best.

the color looks great! did you make it into a duo-tone? if so, convert it back to an RGB then mess with the saturation and you can get different levels of sepia!
good job :)

Thanks for the comments! These are pretty much straight from the camera, with the only post editing being brightness/contrast adjustments.

I'm typically not a big fan of the whole processed sepia look but I actually really enjoyed the first photo...the numerous buds surrounding the centerpiece look like little stars of varying magnitude....

the second photo I'm not too keen on...while I appreciate softfocus it doesn't really seem to work here only because the bud next to the subject is in clear sharp focus, making the photo look like an error of sorts...unless you wanted the bud to be the central focal point.. ;)
..if so good for you! the other flower was a big ham anyhow...! :)

I love sepia tones. Check out my 'portraits' link for some sepia tone portraits. :)

Left you a comment on the first one. Awesome.

I like the first photo better, it appears to be sharper.

I like sepia, but I don't think these photos work well with a sepia tone.

Also, the color is close but seems to be off a little. THis could just be my monitor.
