What happened to Venser?
02/20/2013 04:35:38 PM · #2
he said he was leaving when his membership expired. I guess he made good on it. his account is gone.

poof. it's tempting.

I thought he was too thick skinned to be driven off like that. I'll bet he's lurking and watching what we are saying about him since he left, however. Who's got something juicy?

If someone isn't happy here, they really should leave. Life is too short to do stuff "for fun", like this site, if we don't enjoy it.

I love this place! So... I'm staying. :D

poofing should be outlawed.

Personally I think a little crassness is good for this site.

I'm disappointed we didn't at least get an 'I'm leaving' thread.
02/20/2013 06:19:50 PM · #10
I thought he did not learn anything any more at DPC and went elsewhere.
Sorry to be different but I won't miss him. Very happy he's gone!! :)

PS To be fair I did share some of his views like those about the fall of higher education. But did not appreciate the roughness of the comments and the crudeness of some images. To me he has been vying for attention for some deeper reasons. It is sad in a way.

I'm still saying prayers for him!

Normally when someone leaves it doesn't kill their profile page.

I wonder if he tried his luck editing EXIF data like he threatened to do.

This place is good at chasing people away.

+1...and gawd help you all if I ever leave, I will throw the biggest snit fit ever!!! ;-p

Now, re Venser...FWIW I think he had some trouble being able to take what he was dishing out. He had a sub-4 average for votes cast, and seemed to be having trouble dealing with getting low votes himself. I think he was unable to cope with the (justified, imnsho) cosmic spankings he got.

I'm going to miss him.

I would miss him, but he never really brought any positive energy to this site. Everything I ever saw from him was basically negative and or highly critical in nature, and never in a good (like constructive) fashion. He seemed to be expecting more and more form us without ever contributing himself. He would not, by any means, be the first (ex)-elite athlete I have known with this attitude.

I'm not, I hate those types of threads. Besides, he obviously didn't need to create one himself....

Well I do think he did say good by, photographically.

Yes, I am still annoyed about that as you beat me too. BUT, my entry got lower score than Venser's so he failed inn a big way.

If he is gone, I think it's a pity. while he was often a jerk, and said what he thought without the reservation that we all have, he also contributed a great deal to this site. His photography (the non-stupid stuff) was stellar, and it's nice to see a clear progression in quality from when he joined the site to now, which seems to indicate that the site had a positive influence on him. His comments on images were some of the few actually well-thought-out comments. His viewpoint differed from many, and that's never bad in any society. In the last few months at least, I think his positives outweighed the negatives quite easily.

At the beginning we disliked him because he was crass, then we started to respect him because of his work, and maybe some of us started to envy him as he did things that others haven't got the cohones to try.

+1 for me, I enjoyed talking to him in DPchat and frankly I am more bothered by those who would bad mouth him now once he is gone moreso than anything he ever said/did while here.

I, for one, liked it when he had a positive comment from him for one my entries as it meant more from someone very critical in their opinion.

Who the f*** is Venser? Was it the guy that entered his good photos at PWO and the bad and offending ones at DPC? Or was it the one that dished out low votes like there wasn't a full scale? No, wait, I'm sure it was that wisenheimer that sent whining PMs when someone actually was smarter than him.

A progression in photographic quality doesn't seem special; that's what most of us are here for and what is visible in most of our portfolios. Still his work is far from stellar - and you don't need cohones to go for brown ribbons; the opposite seems true, that is giving up on trying to be a good photographer and spoiling the community by reversing the aims. I for one don't have any respect for him.
