Thanks for the info. It reminds me that there is a Rockwell exhibit at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento until Feb 3 that I wanted to see.

perhaps it could be considered sculpture, you know, 3D.

I actually prefer most of the photographs to the paintings. Cool stuff though

Keep in mind he chose the models, and the clothes they wore. He picked the locations, and the photograph was based on his sketch as far as lighting and posture. The photographers he used were technicians, but the ideas were all his. A friend of mine grew up in Lennox Ma. just down the road from Stockbridge, and she tells stories of Mr. Rockwell always being on the look out for faces he wanted to use. Many of her friends, and neighbours were used in his paintings.
