At the beginning I thought I was wrong. I thought that the lack of sharpness was only in mind.
Now I'm sure that those suspects were real: when I resize from the full size to 800px. something doesn't work.
When I did it in CS3 or CS4 I had no problems at all. Now every image I resize lacks in sharpness.
My only entry resized in CS3 during the last weeks is by far the most sharp:
Has anyone experienced the same problem? |

I'm not sure about CS6, but in CS5 there is a dropdown for how you want it resized. Only if I pick the one labeled "best for reduction" does it keep the image sharp. |

Are you applying any type of post-resize sharpening for your CS6 files? |

Instead of resizing to 800 pixels, try using the next-smaller number which is an even factor of your original number of pixels. For example, my camera takes an image 2816 pixels wide, so I usually resize to 704 pixels, exactly 1/4 of the original.
I have no proof, but I intuitively feel that you can get a more "accurate" result — especially if there's a lot of fine detail — if the algorithm isn't dealing with "fractional pixels" ... |

Paul, I do a similar thing which you could also try. I resize in two steps. First, to exactly twice the output dimension. At this point I may apply a little sharpening. Finally, I resize to the final dimension so that the last resize step is the "even" step. It's worthwhile trying different algorithms for this last step; different images demand different treatment. |
