No this is NOT a sarcastic post - I am being very sincere. The lackluster response to my 2012 November FS got me to look really hard and long. Some feedback gave me insight on my failure to do my best on presenting a cool concept.

The original had big problems with dull skin tones and contrasts. I really need to get better on that because it has been a hit or miss for me in the past. I had always envisioned this concept to have clouds but Mother Nature was not kind enough to provide them on the day of the shoot. I could not find her number to call in the request:-)

So , now the concept moved from Basic shot for Umbrellas, to Advanced to fix several problems that I thought I had finished, to Expert with adding the clouds in to match the vision in my head.

My other regret was a cutesy title (Memories Go Round) that did nothing to really express what the story was. A better title was sorely needed.

Thank you to the 'Meh' Voters, you showed me I needed to do better.

So here is what it SHOULD have been:

I was interested in comparing what you entered with your re-edited version, so I went to the Challenge Entries section of your profile page. I could not find a 2012 November Free Study entry. The last entry it lists is from the You're Doing It Wrong challenge.

You know - that is ironic that my last entry was "You're Doing it Wrong";-P

I pulled the entry because I was not happy with it as it was once I saw all the flaws.

For purposes of helping others see and perhaps learn from my mistake(s)

Top is what was originally submitted. Bottom was further work with level adjustments & tone-mapping but not 'good enough' yet.

I'm impressed with how hard you work. And I guess the feedback could come before or after a challenge, but it's a shame not to enter because of a few flaws - none of us have more than a week to perfect!!!
Love the bright colors and the whole idea of the photo... and yes, the final version is terrific!

Great processing on that image. I hope one day I can do the same with my pics.
And don't fear entering images even when you're not happy about it. Comments might help you to improve even better and the only worse thing that can happen are low votes. Not what we want, but they don't hurt!
