I seriously considered NOT resopoding after receiving a letter generated at 23 Aug 04 00:42:12 EST requesting validation on my Botany submission. After all, it would have kept my average at a slightly higher mediocre level had the entry been dq'd. Why would somebody wait until such a late, maybe even after the challenge was over, date? Anybody got a clue? Could it have anything to do with the last, somewhat enigmatic, comment made moments before the challenge ended?

It does have a " manipulated " feel to it, but I love it.
Clean it up a bit and I reckon you could have an excellent print there.
Normally I dislike borders but this really works, nice work,
Paul.

I think there is a long delay from the time it takes someone to request a DQ on your image, to you receiving a request for proof.

As far as I am aware, it goes to the site council, who then look at it and have to have a vote to see if it's worthy of a DQ and if so contact you and ask you to send it in,.

they are busy people who do it for free so I doubt they will rush just for you.

As for why someone felt the need to validate it, I agree with peecee, it does look artificial and cutout. But if it's not (which I presume it isn't) then all is cool ;D

My advise is the same one that I give myself:

Do not get too creative and avoid borders, epecially when the image overflows into it. The great majority of members do not elevate what they consider cute artistic efforts. (of course, I keep going against my own advise)
I had a similar problem with my "Blue Moon, you saw me standing alone."
This image was not overprocessed. It was shot with purple reflectors and the moon lamp with black light. Anyway, near the end I received a request for file verification. I also got a series of 1s and 2s because the moon bothered their aesthetic sense. I am obviously very primitive.

Your entry is very nice and I like it, but most of our peers do not agree. But I understand the anguish when you get a late request for verification. Good luck. lol

Thanks, Paul. Actually, the only thing I didn't like about how it came out was the color of the leaves under the flower. The photo was taken early morning behind our ancient general store. The building has a metal siding, probably tin, once painted white but now peeling. I thought it provided an interesting background for the flower. Oh, well. Louise

Very nice photo. I love your composition!

I agree. Don't get too creative and minimal borders. I can't seem to follow this advice either, though. I'm always using borders and at the last minute trying to unsubmit and upload another borderless version!

someone had a question about whether the background was replaced. Nothing too controversial, and you provided your original, so all is well.

Thanks, Frisca. I just couldn't understand why somebody would wait so late. Maybe those last minute voters. Anyhow, this is what I think of Mondays...
