What a fun idea for a challenge. Maybe retro, since most newspapers use color photos these days.

I thought this challenge was going to suck at first... But the more I think about it, the more I am starting to like it.

Should be some really good shots.

I agree with Tiny... its a free study in black and white. you can make ANY photo a headline with the appropriate title.

Yep - almost anything can be a headline.

But it is those that do it best that will sell the most newspapers.

+1

It's true, everything can be a headline, but I will rate higher the ones that I think more believable as headlines. I don't wanna say more - I don't want to influence voters.

Are most people going to process their shot so it LOOKS like a newspaper image?.... grainy, "dot matrix", faded?

Not sure how many borders and vignettes I have seen in news shots....keep it straightforward would be my recommendation.

Yes, but a nice interior shot announcing "Shaker Furniture Making Comeback" might not be a headline worthy of front page status, which those who read the challenge description will probably expect.

ETA: FWIW the "dot-matrix" idea mentioned earlier is really a "halftone", which is a way of SIMULATING shades of gray by using different-sized dots of black. It can be achieved using (in Photoshop) Filter > Pixelate > Color Halftone.

However, I think it makes more sense in the context of DPC to just submit an ordinary grayscale JEPG.

Im currently stuck in a place where virtually there are no crimes, public rallies are staged, and politics is boring.... Nope, those are not excuses. I'm in:)

last minute post: anyone having trouble previewing their photo entry? It just loads a bit of a top strip of the shot.
