So I broke down and bought PSP X4 when it was ultra-cheap and now I have to figure out how to use it. Toodling along just fine till I tried to automate some processing I need to do every week with my animal shelter portraits.

Basically, I need to crop to a ratio of 11:8.5, and I want the flexibility to move the crop box or resize it while maintaining that aspect ratio. The program these images go into is completely inflexible as to aspect ratio and will stretch/compress to its heart's desire if I don't prepare the images to its liking. I can do it manually, but it saves time if I can just move/size the box and click the crop checkmark to continue with the script.

Anyway, I did a test script and the Crop step comes up as Crop (NOT Editable) in PSP. It uses the starting coordinates and size I had when I recorded it. No good. I tried editing some of the parameters in a text editor but I can't seem to find a way to make it stop and let me put the crop where I want it (switching ExecutionMode to Interactive doesn't work). I'd happily figure this out on my own if I could find a reference with all the possible script parameters defined, but I can't find that, either.

The rest of the tasks I automate I've got figured out, but the crop is frustrating me. Not every animal poses in the same place in the frame ;-)

Help!

I'll give it a try and see if I can make it work. I have X2 here at the moment and X4 at home.

Thank you, sir!

I tried it under X2 and can't make it work. Prior to executing a crop, it won't let me save the script, and when I do that, I run into the same thing where it won't let me make it interactive.

I keep an 8 1/2 x 11 setting in the presets for the crop tool. At least that keeps me from having to manually enter the size every time. Do you know how to add a preset to your tools?

Yup; did that already. Still means I'll need to crop each one and then run a script to do all the other editing/saving in a batch.

Oh, well. Still lots more things to play with. Appreciate you looking into it.

Mary,

I just installed PSP X4 and I think it may be possible. Under the Manage Tab, go to File/Batch Process. There is a check box to "Use Script". If you can set up and save your crop action as a script, you should be able to do it as a batch process.

That's where the problem lies. Saving it as a script that works interactively.
