In the future when you need a test thread, please search for an existing one rather than creating a new one. We have dozens of these floating around....

Hard to find them though, I did actually look. Perhaps if we have one sticky area or a forum just for testing that can be hidden from view in preferences so only testers switch it on when they need it?

Yeah I did have a look but didn't find any - I didn't search hard but I did look back through recent threads in General forum.

It would be nice to have a way of testing image links etc somewhere other than just wasting time trawling through old threads for a previous one.

Or a more robust search engine for the forums.... pretty please?

Is there a problem with using the "Preview" button, and then after you see everything is working how you want, just clicking the "dpchallenge" logo (or whatever) so you don't actually post anything which avoids making a no-content thread "active" on the DPC home page?

Needless to say it would take an SC member like 3 seconds to delete this thread and since KV is a 'tic like most SC members, why does it matter? Kill it when she's done.

But that doesn't answer my question. Is there any reason you can't just "pretend" to start a new thread or post a reply and click the "Preview" button instead of the "Post" button to see if you got the formatting "right" and then just not actually post?

I tried to ignore but...but...but I HAD to peek. :)

I wanted to see that it worked for sure and previews aren't always reliable in that sense.

If you're that distressed by it Eddy, delete it, but can you try and be a little less dour about it???

The preview button also doesn't show things like signatures.

Exactly
And it's hardly a business critical forum. It's a chat forum for a hobby site!
Chill pills need to be consumed in large quantities.

btw, that's a great example of what is currently fubared with the search engine - it would be amazingly great if it could actually index by subject as well as content. Most of the time I remember the actual subject, and the search doesn't find the thread, then I have to try to remember key words from within messages to differentiate the thread enough to find it.

adding the subject index in might make it significantly usable.

I would have given it an 7 or 8. I like the zoom effect, but I have no emotional bond with the subject matter. ;)

I agree with Fruity. But it does speak to me on an existential level about lollipops and chocolate bananas.
