I was tempted to put this one in because it does indeed show a characteristic of a Hibiscus; the powdery pollen. But I'm certain that including my beastie would have been too much of a stretch for most.
Anyway, here he is with pollen on his nose.
P.S. I submitted something completely different.

I allways wondered how do they water those flowers up there. Here are my outtakes. Two of them, anyway.

Here's mine. I was trying to be funny, but it just looks weird. Any comments are welcome. Plus it displays that highly controversial front soft focus.

I was considering this picture as my entry.

I guess it would meet the challenge.

My out-take. I decided not to submit any at all.

mine are here

and I didn't submit because I got home at 10:59 CST tonight... missed the deadline completely.

My Outtakes
Which should I have chosen? The one I finally decided on was clearly not the best choice. :)

I only took one shot so I can't post :(

Guess I am lucky.
San Diego has one of the most beautiful Botanical Gardens around.
I haven't been there in more years than I have fingers, and once
again, thanks to DPC, my wife & I took the day and enjoyed it's beauty.
Here are a few of the 512MB of images I shot today, had a chance to process and were in my alternates:

These weren't alternates, were just basically cropped or resized real quick, minor adjustments and uploaded to share:

What a neat place to hang out, especially on a hot day.

Isn't it always the way, I'm thinking the same thing. I actually had mine in and unsubmitted and put a different one in... Woo as me..

Love the idea in that one not the colour of the paint as it dosen't have enough contrast for me. Bob

Thought what I entered was better than these, but as usual it's not doing well.

This was going to be my other entry choice named "the road time forgot"

with my current entry struggling to hold a 5 right now I wonder if this would of been a better choice but i felt it didn't fit the challenge as well... opinions???

BradP- you'd better place in the top 20 with subject matter like that! The botany challenge looks like one of the most visually appealing groups I've seen in a while. It should be fun to vote on.

I didn't enter either challenge for lack of time, but I certainly didn't lack ideas or subject matter. I live in a farming town, near one of the largest orchid farms in the country. I have no photos to post for this one, but one of my favorite "concept outtakes" was to glue red-stained cherrystone clams onto a tomato plant and arrange it with various gardening implements and a bottle of Clamato juice. Probably would have been good for a few laughs. ;-)

Was going to enter this one, but I couldn't get to an internet connection in time to upload it last night (I'm out of town on business).

Ahwell.

Hi Shannon,
From the likes of the votes & comments so far,
it shouldn't be a problem.
:)

Finished up a couple more:

And one in Pink
just for Laurie..

Brad... I don't know which one you've submitted, but this one sure would have done well, too! I love it. In fact, I made it a favorite! ;o)

My outtake..

But I thought I should do something other than floral for a Botany challenge.
