I am a fan of shooting flowers. I know I need to improve like all of us do. How do you like the lighting on this shot? I did not tweak or modify the shot but for resizing.

Evening Sun

What part of this photograph interests you?

I like the lighting a lot. A warm, late afternoon glow that's bright enough for lots of contrast and deep shadows, but not as harsh as full sun. I think the composition could be improved by isolating one or two blooms, but the light is very nice.

It's funny, when I first read your message, I swear I read the words "I am a fan of shooting flowers. I know I need a life" and I was about to say, ME TOO, ME TOO!!! :-)

I really do like taking flower pictures though ... .Some of mine

Okay, looking at your picture, I'm impressed by the flower itself. The thing I would work on would be to unclutter the frame. You could either zoom in or crop it more. Or another idea I had was to try desaturating the entire picture except for the flower in the center.

Unless I'm mistaken your camera isn't fast enough to blurr a background or have any shallow dof at all. You can get around that with a close up lens. HERE

Actually it's fast enough I was more interested in the lighting on this shoot. Here is another shot from the same camera with a better dof.

Thanks all for the comments.Another Flower.
