This is my stock photography sales statistic for May 2012. You can find a complete list of stock photography agencies that I work with here.

These are for me the best 4 performing stock agencies for May 2012:

Shutterstock
DepositPhotos
Zazzle
Veer

May was better again with an increase of 13% compared to April, and a 42% increase compared to May 2011. It was the best month ever for Featurepics, DepositPhotos, Pixmac, and Photospin.

(This statistic include referral earning at the different agencies)

I'm always amazed at your earnings from deposit photos. They are consistently my worst earner that and canstock they don't even compare to shutter stock. If I was to do a pie it would go 90% shutterstock and the last 10% would get divided fairly evenly between the other 7 I submit to.

I don't think he reads the replies on these threads. I think it's just a way to get links back to his site.

I do read this Stock Photography forum here. But lately there is not enough happening here that I would read it every day.

With many of the site I have an increase over time, but Shutterstock has not. The number of images is increasing but not the sales. Maybe I don't add enough images per month at Shutterstock go really get an increase.

I'm impressed with all the charts, actually. Could you tell me what program or service you use to create those? I could use that for another project of mine, especially the pie chart in 3D.

I use Microsoft Excel to create the charts.

Henrik,

I like the charts, noticed that there are relative comparisions, but not absolute numbers. I would not dream of asking another what they earn, I know I am not overly fond of being asked; but was wondering if stock photography is viable for side money? I enjoy photography, but not enough to spend 40 hours a week doing it, if I could be making better money offering fries-with-that at a Mickey D window.

It is no easy money! But if you like photography, then you had fun making the money!

Take a look at the list "What type of images do sell?" //stock.hlehnerer.com/Resources.html This will gives you an idea of the type of images that sell very well. Maybe start with 3-5 agencies, and try it out for a few month.
