Anyone around the Tampa/Naples area of FL? You bunkering down or evacuating? I’m at work right now and we are planning for the tomorrow and the weekend. We run a 24/7 operation so im suppose to be working from home tomorrow night (haha like ill have power).

I know Ron is in Orlando, he will get the small rain dump leftovers ;)

Here is the satellite picture of the storm.

phew...guess that means new orleans will be left standing a bit longer.

Yeah I live in Tampa, near the Bucs stadium. I'm spending the weekend at a friend's place near the USF area.

It should be interesting, lol...

I'm in North Pinellas, the peninsula county where he's supposed to hit dead-center. Not in a flood zone, so everyone wish me luck riding it out!

That's the spirit! :-) I sure hope you've got your camera handy and will share the pics with us. It should be a wild ride!

Thanks for the good word! It looks like the storm is growing in strengh unfortunetly :/ current position

Here is a diagram of where myself and RonB are in relation to the storm (not sure of other FL DPC'ers).

To put in perspective though.. take a look at hurricane Andrew looked like. Now that was a bad mofo!

Heh, hurricanes...no fun. Heck, we lived just north of Atlanta, GA in '97 when Opal decided to cross the FL panhandle and go all the way up our state and still be a hurricane when it hit us...let's just say my room got about crushed and I was glad to be on the other side of the house at the time. -_-

Stay safe!!!

It doesn't look too good for Tampa this evening. I hope you don't live close to the water. Good luck!

My best friend is in Tampa. I just talked to her for 1.5 hours on the phone. I lived in FL for 26 years (born there), and I left last year. I went through Hurricane Andrew. I do NOT miss hurricanes & prep for them. I wish you all the best with the storm....

Good luck! This thing is up to a 125mph Category 3 storm, so you're going to need it.

Well, I live in Gainesville. The eye is going to pass right over us. We are staying right here, not evacuating like the supposed 1.4 million other people. I doubt that value is real. Anyway, I am going to do a project of the aftermath and etc. See you later.

Thanks guys!

I'm at a friend's place right now, i'm no where near the water. I just don't want the place I live in to be too flooded!

I moved from a "B" to an "F" area where its safer...

My family is still in SE Florida, where I was born & raised. I am very surprised, but happy, that they fared well this time. I am worried about my best friends & mother-in-law (Melbourne & Tampa). My sister-in-law is in Gainesville. I hear the storm eye changed and will not hit g'ville now, but what do I know. I am a Californian now. I need to call her up to see how she's doing. I have friends all over the state... even the panhandle! I am hoping all goes well for all of them!!!! And all of you!!!

I have to confess my guilt. Because of these storms being east of new orleans...the weather here is beautiful and crisp and clear and cool here today. Im going out to savor this most unusual of days...but with florida in mind. (guilt)

My parents are around Tampa. I just got off the phone with them. They are so far okay. I will try them again later. Category 4 is nothing to sneeze at. I lived thru Gilbert, which was a Category 5, but they said it was so strong they wish they could give it a Category 8 designation.
Not fun.
This brings back too many bad memories.
