My image, "Train with pearls" finished well, but a got a lot of complaints about the reflection of the smokestack being cut off.
When I was cropping the image, I thought leaving the bottom open made everything sort of floaty, while cropping closer gave the train more weight.
Here are two different crops, which one do you prefer?

I like the first better (the one with the full reflection rather than the abbreviated version).
Its a larger shot which is neither here nor there but it does give a complete reflection that fills out the image IMO.

Hmmm. I am afraid that I prefer the top one. showing the complete reflection. This seems to lend the shot more balance. Symetry plays a part in the composition and it was impacted by the tighter crop. |
